GREED
greed is in all mankind, even those who are suppose to be with the Lord.
Why do Preachers make so much money, they can send their kids to college, but some in their congregation can not, do you think that they offer to send them.
Uh nope, they will say, let us have a bake sale so that we can raise money to send Brother John to college

Are you crazy? Do you know how much that pope mobile costs? And those robes! Gotta have robes. And the popes hate (I'm betting that goes for at least $100,000 if not more - and they don't just have one of those things). Then we gotta put in all that stained glass in the new churches that are being built. Oh, yeah, it costs to move those pedophiles around too... they gotta hide them so the church won't have to put out any more money on court costs and fees paid to the victims for the destruction of their childhood innocence.
I had once heard, after that first pay out to the victims of the pedophile priests, that the Catholic Church was going bankrupt. This coming from people I know personally. I checked it out, the Vatican owns more land than most small countries do... they have more money than most of the largest corporations in the world.... It would very hard to convince me that they Can't help the poor (which in the smaller churches, some do... but only what the Vatican allows them to spend).
Representatives of God? No, they're a business just like any other corporation.

I often wondered this!! I also wonder why a lot of churches, mosques, etc. spend so much on decor etc. I am a Christian, but I am sad so many religions tithe to themselves. A lot of people don't go to church, but eliminate the middleman and give straight to the poor. Jesus was poor, and any money he made seemed to go back to helping others. He doesn't waste money. The vatican seems to do the opposite. I don't get it. The only time I feel they get it right is when the Pope is buried in a plain pine box. Wish we could all be so, as the amount of money we spend on coffins could feed a lot of hungry kids. I know they employ people who give, etc. etc. I guess the vatican employs a lot of people also, and tourism, so I am now wishing I never started this question.

From your attitude, I take it you have the answer already and this is nothing more than a rant. Just in case, here is an answer.
If the Vatican is worth so much money... It is as a location and as a depository for priceless treasures that, right, wrong or indifferent, can only be sold to wealthy individuals who would prevent these from ever being seen again by the public. It is not like they have rooms filled with crisp dollar bills (or lira).
,,, then why do they not use it to stamp out poverty? Two good reasons. The first has to do with greed. Not just greed within the church, but greed within humanity. What have you done personally to help the poor that are in your own neighborhood?
Poverty is a complex issue that has been almost impossible to solve. Giving the poor money (if they would even accept it) is not a solution. In some cases personal poverty is fed by some cultures more than others. Limited resources and expanding populations hinder, not help, the situation.
I do not condone many of the activities of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, especially if one looks at their historical record. But your belief that they have the resources to end poverty for humanity is not realistic.

With the Catholic Church selling alot of property in California and other states to pay the huge debt incurred by lawsuits of priests not acting like men of God they are having financial trouble.
As a born again bible believing Christian i am not sad that they wicked group (the system not the people) is falling.
I know many deceived Catholics that are decent people that out of pride wont leave generations of family in the same church but will "ride it out" to the end.
You sin has found you out. Satan rules in your house. You don't follow the bible rather rely on Vatican 1 or Vatican 2 or so on. These documents were produced by men voting rules in effect. The bible was produced by men that God used to give his word. No voting needed they were controlled by the Spirit to write Gods word exactly as he wanted.
So they cannot sell Vatican City. it is mortgaged?
Yes you will say I'm bashing but I'm on Gods side. Act like you are.
Put those sinful sick men in jail.
Read the book you claim to follow and stop the traditions of men

When I went to St Paul's, I was angered by the opulence of everything there. I was sickened by the wealth that is kept their when throughout history people have died owing to poverty. I asked my self how people, who claim to be Christians, can precure so much wealth at the detriment to their fellow brothers and sisters, and let them suffer in so much misfortune.
I was so appaled I refused to pay the entry fee to the vatican city, and left the area hastily.
I don't know where they get the idea that they are purely good people from.

That's one of the questions people have been asking for centuries. Yes, I understand that much of that wealth is in the form of priceless art treasures that should not be sold. But there's a whole lot of liquid assets, too, and there's no good excuse for not using that to alleviate poverty.

You just don;t like catholics. The vatican is wealthy, but so is the seat of power in most religions. Get real - religions are self-perpetuating. You cannot perpetuate yourself if you don;t have loot. I'm an atheist, but I see things for what they are. I say good luck to the vatican, but their teachings, like all religion, are shite

Good question! The wealth of the Catholic church is embarrasing, but if they need to function as high powered diplomats in a political world, then that has to be backed up with money, right?
It would be good to at least see someone try!

Because stamping out poverty is not their aim. How naive... If you want to look at places that have huge resources and squander them when there is a duty to help people - look at the american government - Look at katrina! Look what private healthcare is doing. Look how dangerous it is to let companies make hundreds of billions of profits out of war - I'm not a conspiracy theorist but is it a good idea to create a powerful group of incredibly wealthy people who need war to line their pockets?

It saddens me that alot of peoples opinions seem to be "It won't solve the problem so why even bother?" Sure we probably won't ever be rid of poverty but if we provide tools for 1000 villagers to be able to feed their families for years to come despite the fact 1,000,000 people may need saving surely its better to save those 1000 than just keep the money in the bank.
