Dogs and cats both have 15 as their average life span but if your cat is still a bundle of energy at this age, you're doing something very right!! Congrats!

The average age for a cat is 10, but all of mine (bar one) have lived well passed that. They have all acted like kittens virtually up to the end. In my experience my cats have all just given up with old age and we have had to make the decision to let them go.
I currently have a 11 year old (going on 3) and a 6 year old (going on 3). My other cats have lived to 16, 18 and 24! One of my cats had to be put to sleep at 2 years old because she got feline leukemia but she was the exception.

Yeah, my cat still did that up until she was 18! 15 is a decent age for a cat, 18 is starting to get pretty impressive. Cats can live in to their 20s, I've known a few. I think the oldest cat ever was something ludicrous like 36!
Once cats are fully grown, there are 5 cat years to a human year. So if your cat was human, she'd be 75 - definitely a senior citizen!

Cats can live into their 20's, my friend has a 22 year old, according to Guinness World Records, the oldest cat ever was Creme Puff, born August 3, 1967 and still living at the age of 37 in 2004. Creme Puff was owned by Jake Perry of Austin, Texas, USA.

My cat is 18 at the mo and still ticking along, although at a slower pace these days.
My other cat lived to 15, and got ill quite suddenly with kidney problems. She was like a kitten until about 2 months before she died.

The average is 12-15 years. But many cats can live to 21 years. One of my cats is now 20. I think a lot depends on how they are looked after too. Like their weight, keeping up their yearly injections, just generally be pampered and rightly so.

Wow... you're lucky!! Yes 15 is pretty old. I'd guess it was the equivalent of a human in their 80's or early 90's.. Your cat is a ripe old age.
Cats have been known to live into their 20's on rare occasions, but I'd say around 13 is more common..
Take good care of your senior kitty..

Ginger cats apparently live longer than others - more strong, but the average is 10-15 years.
But the oldest cat in the world is/was apparently 32 years old so maybe your cat will be one like that!

We had a beautiful ginger tom who lived to 21. He was an absolute delight, and was (obviously) very well cared for, and well fed. However, he had renal failure, which is quite common, which got worse, and we had to have him put to sleep earlier this year. As he got older he went a little bit senile, and slightly deaf. We are very lucky and live in a remote house, so he could go out into the garden, there was no fear of traffic etc and he could just sleep quietly in the sunshine.
