Me as it was a gift and that therefore makes me the rightful owner. You would be gutted if that happened though!!

he person who received the ticket is entitled to the cash. You shouldn't give lotto tickets as gifts though. Anyway, if you're the person who received the ticket, I suggest you offer to split the prize 2 ways. It's not necessary but it will make the person who gave it feel abit better. On the other hand they should learn not to give people lotto tickets as gifts.

Asking this question indicates that the gift was an empty gesture. "Instead of buying you a gift, I spent $1 on a lottery ticket."
In gifting a lottery ticket, rather than giving a gift of cash, you are giving the chance of cash. If they win, you should be happy for them and take pride in giving a memorable gift that didn't cost much. Some people might share the cash or give a thank you gift in return, but this shouldn't be expected.

The person who received the card as a gift, quite simple really, there is no law in the land that would say otherwise, as long as you can prove it was a gift, think about this, if someone borrowed £10 from me and put it on a horse that came in a winner at 100/1, he would still only owe me £10 and I would not expect anything more, I would say good look to they guy, that's life.

The person who was given the ticket would be entitled to the money, that is the whole point of a gift. Of course if you pick your friends right, they'd hopefully share a bit.

It would be selfish to take the money for yourself, it was a gift you should've thought about all the different outcomes when you bought it. If they win, congratulate them. Technically it's their ticket as soon as you give it as a gift, if it's a loan then you're entitled to some or all of the money.

I would never give a lotto ticket to anyone. I only buy for myself but If i ever gave one and the person won I would wanna get half of the prize cuz if it wsnt for me they wouldnt of have won....but I´m guessing the other person would feel intitled to it and would NOT wanna give me anything since they would say that I gave it to them as a prize..but if they´re considerate they would wanna split with me since I was the one that bought them the ticket.

They would as you gave them the ticket as a gift, therefore it's their ticket not yours.
But as a goodwill gesture they should give you a million.

you gifted the ticket. the money is therefore gifted to that person. if they want to share the wealth with you morally they might be responsible, but not legally.feel good you did something nice for humanity. then move on. your kindess comes back.
