I dont know what state you are in, but i know most states wont let you register a car if the title has a lean on it. If you were able to transfer the title into your name, then you shouldnt have any problems.

Yes unless you pay the outstanding balance , try going back to the seller and say you are in breach of your, purchase agreement and not only should he have told the finance company, but you before selling it to you, give it a try, good luck

It can be, Just because they had the documents dosent mean it was their car to sell, The finance company may come and recover THEIR car and it will be up to you to get a refund from the seller.

The person who sold the car to you is in the wrong as they should not have sold it if there was a credit agreement still on the car, i would get this checked out and see where you stand with this.

The car may actually be paid off buy whomever you purchased it from and they may have received a letter from their bank stating its been paid off that they should usually give you. I would contact the seller and ask them if the lien has been paid or cally the secretary of state where you had it registered and ask them what to do.

You need to know what type of finance was taken out.............if it is a personal loan then No as these always tend to be unsecured up to £15k.
If you were able to register with DVLC then you will be fine.

yes it will be taken why do think HPI WAS INVENTED if you did not check on the hpi list it is entirley your own fault and it would have only cost £17.50 to have it checked. and one more point for all of you saying check with DVLA THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO DO WITH IT AT ALL THEY DONT KNOW IF THE CAR IS ON FINANCE
