I heard that Catholics don't like abortion because it's killing the new Catholics that should be born. Not just because it prevents babies from being born, but just that there are less Catholics. Is it true? Or at least partially true.

Catholics are against abortion for many reasons. Not the least of which you sohuld start with how Catholics view procreation. The joining of a man and a woman is the greatest gift God gives us, through the sacrament of marriage. When they come together it is with the purpose of creating new life. Catholics believe that this life begins at conception. Since at conception nothing is needed to make that fetus become a human except time and nourishment, clearly it is just a small form of a human. Abortion is the end of that life, it is murder plain and simple. I hope I don't need to explain why Catholics believe murder to be wrong.

Note to mj456a: The commandment is "Thou Shalt not Murder". See Exodus 20:13

To kill and to murder are not the same thing.

There is nothing wrong with killing animals for food. The Law of Moses even told the Hebrews how to do it.

There is nothing wrong with capital punishment. In fact, the Law of Moses demands it.

The best way to respect human life is to punish those who murder, by taking their life away.

For example, I totally agree that John Couey should be punished for the kidnapping, rape and murder of 9 year old Jessica Lunsford is for Mr. Couey to forfeit his own life.

A Flordia Jury and a Florida judge have already made the decision that that is how he should be punished. To not punish him that way, would be to say that Jessica's life was not valuable.

Now to answer the question at hand:

I'm not a Catholic, however I know many many Catholics. Not just on the Internet, but in real life as well.

I've never heard your argument made or even mentioned by any Catholic ever.

Abortion is one point where Bible believing Christians and Roman Catholics agree. The opposition to abortion is based on the fact that an unborn baby is still a human life.

The Old Testament demand that if a man accidentally hits a pregnant woman and the baby dies, the man should be punished by forfeiting his own life.

See Exodus chapter 21.

No.

Catholics believe that from the moment of conception until natural death, each human being is endowed by God with dignity and rights.

You shall not kill. (Ex 20:13; cf. Deut 5:17)

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. (Jer 1:5; cf. Job 10:8-12; Ps 22:10-11)

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth. (Ps 139:15)

Early Church writings: You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. (Didache 2, 2: SCh 248, 148; cf. Ep. Barnabae 19, 5: PG 2, 777; Ad Diognetum 5, 6: PG 2, 1173; Tertullian, Apol. 9: PL 1, 319-320)

With love in Christ.

Catholics don't like abortion because shedding innocent blood is a sin, because abortion abuses women and robs children of their most basic human rights, and because abortion will eventually destroy any society in which it becomes an accepted practice.

Interestingly, even Al Qaeda terrorists won't abort their offspring, while the rest of the "civilized" world seems to think it's just fine. So who's the real terrorists?

Catholics shouldn't be having abortions, for any reason, so your point is moot.

No, darlin', this is not any longer authentic, and not replaced into. We honor the saints as holy human beings and Mary because the mum of our Lord and Savior. The Crucifix, for us, is an rather good reminder of what Christ did for us. The table on the bottom at that internet web site is really faulty. before everything, in case you understand your Bible, you understand that the Commandments seem two times, in Exodus 20 and in Deuteronomy 5. (For the record, even nonetheless Deuteronomy comes later interior the old testomony, it replaced into written formerly.). 2d, in case you understand your historic previous, you understand that the numbering of verses, alongside with the position commas, classes, and so on. are placed did not come alongside till the Rennaisance, that signifies that each translation has quite distinct numbering. it is because interior the historic Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic that the Bible replaced into written in, extraordinarily the Greek and Aramaic of the recent testomony, replaced into written without punctuation or areas between words, no longer to point capitalization. itbasicallywouldhavelookedsomethinglik... See my element? besides, as a effect, Catholics and Protestants have the Commandments numbered otherwise, yet we've the exact same commandments. In Catholicism and Lutheranism, the first Commandment reads "i'm the Lord your God. You shall haven't the different gods formerly me, nor shall you're making for your self any graven idols." In maximum Protestant church homes, they chop up those into the first 2 commandments. the version is made up later, interior the 9th/10th commandments. for most Protestants, the 9th Commandment is "You shall no longer bear pretend witness," yet it is the eighth Commandment for Catholics. Protestants then integrate "You shall no longer covet your neighbor's spouse" with "you shall no longer covet your neighbor's products" into the 10th commandment, even as Catholics chop up those up, hence making up the version from a million and a pair of.

No, it is not true. Most Catholics (or Christians in general for that matter) feel that it is murder. Murder is against the teachings of God within the Bible (thou shall not kill). I am sure there might be some crazed individuals who are only concerned about the collective power of their religion who might believe such things, but I would think such people are far and few in number.

Yes, it seems weird because it IS weird.

The Catholic Church is oppossed to abortion because it is killing a person. It does not matter if the person would be a catholic, Protestant, Hindu, Muslim, Jew, or Atheist. It is still the killing of a person.

Of course that is not true. It comes down to the basic defense of life, which no other religion or any group for that matter has tried as hard or as long or as successfully as the Catholic Church. Its about respecting and appreciating life.

Ridiculous notion. The Church is against abortion because of the sanctity of human life, not just Catholic human life.
