As far as being atheist, I think atheists who are only so because they are mad at religion or God are not really atheists. If you are upset God didn't answer your prayers and bitter I don't think that is really the best reason to become or call yourself an atheist. It really means you are a delusioned theist. Maybe depends on the person and its hard to always know what others are thinking.
Otherwise there are good and bad people period. I have heard people who told me they were awful people when they were atheists and it was only after finding religion they became better people. I don't personally understand why you would need to religion to work out not being a truly immoral and awful person but I accept some are like this. On the other side I have known quite a few religious people who were less than stellar human beings. Christians tell me we are all sinners. I agree we all make mistakes. I just don't think I need a God to wipe the slate clean but rather that we should acknowledge when we err to ourselves and if appropriate others and try to not keep making the same ones. I find no predictable correlation in the people I meet between their beliefs and how "good" they are. I know very nice and good people who atheists and Satanists and yet some of the worst people I have known were religious. It seems to be what is inside the person and what they nurture.

Not in the sense of there being good or bad Christians. Atheists can, of course, be good or bad people. I personally think there is an ugly face to atheism, which manifests itself in some of the nastier and ignorant responses some atheists give to religious believers on this board.

Yes , of course. Being atheist is not trusting the presence of God . So when you don't have a religion to tell you what's right or wrong , atheist can go bad easily.

Sure, just like there are good and bad Christians, good and bad Jews, good and bad Baptists...good and bad have nothing to do with what religion someone does or doesn't prescribe to.

Yes if they keep their non-beliefs to them selves they are good atheists if not bad ...Just like Theists good if they keep their beliefs to themselves and bad when they try to rub on others....
