For muscle pain they do use Tiger balm.

If you are referring to what herbal remedy is used for joint pain - it is Tjin Koo Lin. It smells like crazy, not to mention leaves a yellow stain on where you've applied it.

But it has a cooling/ deep heat feeling and actually does help with musculo skeletal injuries. I honestly cant remeber for sure if its a deep heat feeling or a cooling sensation. Been a long time since I've done shin conditioning. If you do muay thai conditioning to your shins, iron palm training, knuckle conditioning. TKL is highly recommended. So far most Chinese Medical Halls I've been to sell it. But you and I might live in different places.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is different for each person's body. The abovemenioned is a so called 'one size fits all' herbal remedy. If you want a correct fitting you can talk to the 'sinseh' (Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioner) for a prescription.

Chinese also like to drink 'chicken essence' and have specially brewed herbal soup they drink at night. Also can be recommended by a good sinseh

I use to go to ChinaTown and ask the store owner, until one guy told me just to use plain rubbing alcohol. It works, I have been using it for 15 years now. I usually rub it in a circular motion (81x) since 9 has a special meaning in China.

Arson is right about the tiger balm.It comes in two strengths,
regular,(white),and extra strength,(red).
For muscle aches and bruises.
Good nutrition helps a great deal with recovery from hard training.
