If you want to learn about the bitterness of the earth, learn about how the fall of man tainted the earth in Genesis 3. As Romans 8:22 says "all of creation is groaning with the pains of childbirth..." due to man bringing sin into the world.
If you just want to learn about bitterness in general I have known several biology professors who were very bitter and could probably teach you a great deal on the subject.

Well darlin, choose microbiology. It will prepare you for more diverse choices. It's necessary for all of us to be sensitive to the requirements for the preservation of this beautiful earth. It is possible to save her, but boy it's gonna require cooperation by all of us.
