I know a man who drinks at least one gallon of water a day. He carries a gallon jug with him every day and drinks it till it's empty. He had beautiful skin. If you wait till you are thirsty to drink water, then you are already becoming dehydrated, so keep drinking water every day even if you don't feel thirsty. I always drink a half gallon a day myself, and my skin looks pretty good for a 54 yr old.

OK, unfortunately drinking a lot of water to get good skin does not help. They did studies on that. One group of people drank a lot of water, the other group not. There was no difference in the skin. Water is good for saliva production, for having a healthy mouth and teeth, it is a natural diuretic, it helps you with your bowel movements. It is good when you are sick to clear the mucous membranes. But it doesn't do anything for the skin. Also, nowadays they say all the other things you eat and drink count towards your liquid intake like coffee, juice, fruits, veggies and other foods. I drink about 100 ounces a day, give or take, and it hasn't done anything for my skin. But I feel great and it definitely is not harmful. Be careful not to drink to much, you will know when you start feeling sick and nauseated. It could be a sign of hyponatremia, where you have flushed out too much of the sodium in the body. Apart from that it makes you feel really sick, it is very dangerous and can be fatal.

ACTUALLY, there's a recent study that shows your skin will not retain moisture by drinking more water. The health benefits are there internally for water, so drink up, but it's a myth that drinking tons of water will make your skin better.
