Have you ever been told that you have any type of problems with your discs in your back or neck? Sounds like you may have pinched nerve. Or as in my case, I have a slightly pinched spinal cord between C3-C4 vertebrae due to degenerative disc disease. I experience a bit of tingling in my neck and shoulders sometimes when I cough. It's due to the spinal cord being pinch. You probably need to see a doctor for a referral to a neurosurgeon for an MRI.

i think your neck pain is associated with the body's reponse by stimulus such as allergen, illness etc. it is a protective mechanism to expell harmful things from the envoirnment or in your body. another protective resonse is to vomit.there are others also to go on.. and on .. but it also could be that your reponse is so sudden or severe that it jerks or strains your spinal and neck supporting muscles causing strain. you may have allergies and this may be how it presents itself. it could also be you have injured yourself in some way. i have also heard of a possible association to heart disease. it could also be attributed to a bulging spinal disc.osteo -disease is also a possibility. if it persists and depending upon discomfort or further symptoms you may want to see a doctor. it is the body's very visceral response. p.s. hope you feel better!

Maybe your Cevical spine (neck) is misalign, may not be disc problem. So you can consult spine therapist before MRI. x-ray will show and cheaper.
