I always thought that the definition of 'sin' was an act you personally did to transgress the law of God or something like that. If person A does something evil, it's his sin, and not innocent bystander B's sin. If somebody commits a crime, you throw them into jail, and not some person picked out of a phone book. Pretty straight-forward...

However, according to standard Christian doctrine, the sin of Adam and Eve was somehow passed on or transferred to billions of people who never consented to Eve's sinful act at in the first place. They simply have existence thrust upon them, and are born with one foot in Hell due to something they never did.

Is this even remotely fair and just? Doesn't this make Jehovah into some arbitrary bully?

No, it isn't fair. And i think that the god portrayed in the Christian bible is an arrogant and arbitrary bully. I mean, he killed Job's wives and children and took away everything from this man just to prove a point to Satan. He ordered his people to go on a murdering spree because they happened to be living in the wrong place (the Jewish take-over of cannan after the egypt eodus). I think that about sums "god" up.

Original sin is simply the unavoidable consequence of Adam's free choice.

If you sold yourself to the devil, the devil would then "own" (have a claim on) all of your future offspring.

That is essentially what Adam did, and all of his offspring have been born enslaved to satan, sin, and death, ever since.

And don't blame God for it. He warned Adam and Eve about what would happen, and they didn't believe him.

Then God mercifully sent his own son to fix the mess ... at his own considerable expense.

I'm not sure whether it is fair or not. What I am sure of is that Jesus has paid the price for reconciliation. So that we are justified in the sight of God by the Blood of Jesus.
It is as though we never sinned at all. Hallelujah, Jesus Is Lord!!!!!

You are misinterpreting original sin. Adam sinned and sin and death entered the world...It is by this we say we inherited sin...We are not judged for Adam's sin but our own.

This misinterpretation is much like Muhammad's misinterpretation of orginal sin in the Qu'ran he also misinterpreted the trinity as 3 seperate gods had Muhammad understood these concepts he might no have disagreed with them.

The "justice" is in the acceptance or denial of the only One who can free you from that original sin:

Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
