Since Jesus called Him Father, I'm going to do the same. I feel very comfortable with Him as my Father. But if Jesus had called God Mother, I would have been comfortable with that too.

God didn't....humans DID! The ancient societies which wrote the doctrines employed in the majority of the world's religions today were essentially patriarchal and openly chauvinistic. To NOT have a leader...a Creator...a being worthy of praise, glorification and worship...who WAS NOT also male was intrinsically unthinkable and untenable. For them, and many today (sadly) it was NOT ONLY a " man's world"...but also a "man's universe" too. In my way of thinking God probably shakes his head in disbelief at the way humankind time and time again twists things to suit their times, cultures and agendas.

I can't remember where I read it, but I read something to the effect that Jehovah was one of many deities that the ancient Hebrews worshiped. Jehovah was the phallic (penis) deity and when the priests elevated his status above the other gods, he kept his masculinity.
