Chinese has the most speakers but English is the second language of choice more than any other. It is the language of commerce and computers and most sciences today.

I speak Russian as a second language. I find it a very passionate language. Very hard to learn but it is a beautiful languge.

calm down, english is one of the most spoken but not really the language that people prefer...It's because it's an easy language. People learn it because they have to, but on the whole I think they prefer their native language:for example I prefer French because I have been speaking it for my childhood, it's the language of my fathers.

considering this is an English language site - answers here might be a bit biased.
still, English is the most predominent, i think sign languge is second (at least it should be in my opinion)

ya, I think that English is the most favorite language in the world. but if you want to be unique, try to learn some other language. mandarin/chinese is preverable.. chinese start to rule the world..
