you know jack russells are know to kill cats? well i was walking up the stairs and my neighbour had let their cat outside their door. my dog saw it and ran to it, smelling it very intensely. he was very interested in what it was and he kept smelling it but he did not attack or bite it. he is a very friendly dog but i swear i thought he would attack the cat. is he one of those few jack russells who dont?
the cat was circling him as well. i picked my dog up and put him in the other direction and he was fine with going up with me

You are lucky to have that jack that won't bite the cat.
My friend who own 2 of it, who always chase after cat when everytime they saw it..lucky is the cat run for their life, and without getting any hurt from those 2 crazy hunk..
And will dig the mouse hole in the garden when they when out for pee & poo, and when the mouse came out they will go crazy chaseing after it & my friend will try very hard to call them back.
So, lucky you to have a good dog..
Don't ever let your dog have that kind of chaseing after a cat or mouse, when they have it , they will love it,and by that time you want to change them back to normal, they can't anymore.
So,keep up that good thing to your good dog..

Friends have JRussells that live with cats.
Another friend visits me often with his JR and I have a houseful of free-roaming rescued cats in my house.
Harmony.
Where'd you get that idea that they're killers of cats?
They are chasers and once upon a time bred as ratters.
My part JR played with my rats, sniffed and stomped her feet at them when they were outa cage. But when my pet rat had enough and was irritated enough she would start chasing the dog,.. and my dog would run the dickens behind me to hide!!!

You have a very personable, sweet Jack Russell, that's all.

Your question is...? Jack Russells were bred to kill rodents(rats, rabbits ect...) So I'm sure that a cat is kinda "rodent-ish" to them but with good socializing they can learn to coexist and even befriend cats!

You are correct, Terriers aren't supposed to get along with cats. I have a senior cat and 2 Terriers, sometimes they tag team and chase him, sometimes they ignore him, but have never tried to hurt him. He isn't afraid of them and they'll all wait around the water bowl together for a drink.
