You need the right visa which requires a job sponsor. What I have seen is that private schools can be more flexible about 'equivilence' than public schools can be, for what it is worth.

You'll probably need to take certification tests first but after that
you should be able to teach.

yeah after you either apply for this at the INS office or unless the school you work for will ''sponsor'' you while you are there and then you can apply for adjustment of status and your work permit/greencard.....Why not go to canada? Its much more simple
