Females have two X sex chromosomes and males have an X and a Y sex chromosome. The Y chromosome is passed only from fathers to male offspring through the sperm. If Jesus was born of a virgin woman who would presumably have only X chromosomes, then where did Jesus get his Y chromosome?
If you say that the Y chromosome came directly from Jehovah, then doesn't that imply that he really is an Old Man With a Beard? Also, if the Shroud of Turin is genuine, and there is a DNA sample from Jesus himself, then isn't it theoretically possible to isolate God's own Y chromosome? And wouldn't it be possible to perform some sort of genetic analysis of God's Own Chromosome and determine what sort of physical characteristics that Jehovah would have (beard, Semitic features, etc.)?

You are perfectly correct in your logic. From my own experience of presenting scientific fact to Christians to show how wrong they are I can only say duck and cover and prepare yourself for some whacky answers involving God's magic and rabbits from hats.
The Shroud of Turin has been dated and was not from the time of Jesus.
Many Christians don't believe in evolution so chromosomes and genes are just a made up conspiracy by scientists or they simply bastardise scientific principles.
Ask the user Jesus is Lord. He will tell you all about the "science conspiracy".
Or Lion of Judah will present "unscience" as science to prove religious "facts".
Good spot all the same. I hadn't thought of that one.

Where did Adam get his Y Chromosome? Or X for that matter? Since he is able to create life from dust, he would have been able to introduced the basic genetic material into the nucleus of her egg. You don't need a sperm for that. That genetic material would have been the same as what he used to create Adam, which would have overwhelmed or would have been dominant over anything provided by Mary. As such, he would have been close to a clone of Adam. As for the Shroud, the only thing left in the crept was the rolled up bandages used to wrap Jesus. No shroud. It is just like any other item used as an idol for people lacking faith.

You are right. Definitely Y is passed down from male.
But how would you do that.. Y is not even a gene carrier.
only X chromosomes carry the genes from the parents to the child.
We don't know the mysteries of a higher being than us.
we are just like a child trying to put the whole ocean inside the hole we made.
It is even difficult for us to solve equations in 3 dimentions. how much more in more dimentions. We can only illustrate things upto 3D.

Chromosomes were not discovered till much later - details like that just get in the way of the story.
For the sake of argument - how about God created Jesus' Y chromosome.

Genetics backs the Jewish view of Jesus's birth even more now that we know what we know about Genetics. Jesus was concieved out of wed-lock, back in these days this was grounds for Mary to be stoned - so what happened, she claimed immaculate conception. Joseph of course backed her story so she wouldnt be executed and more than possibly because (1) it was her child he was carrying (2) his family had already paid her family for her hand in marriage - back then most marraiges were arranged and (3) because he would be shunned by his community for having sex outside of marriage even though the law wasnt as harsh for men.
In Jewish tradition we believe that Miriam (mother Mary) gave the child to God for his use when he was in her womb. He later became a great prophet. I know the Christians are going to give me thumbs down but this is a very logical answer that follows the laws of biology and also fits in with the laws and customs of the society Mary and Joseph lived in.

Wrong assumption! The ancients had no concept of sperm and ovum. They assumed that the seminal fluid had the seed of a child and that the womb merely served as a vessel. They did not expect a "genetic" contribution from the woman, just a nurturing one. So Jesus was not "conceived", but "incarnated". Knowing what we do now is problematic for the ancient interpretation.

I think it has been proven that the Turin Shroud is not in fact Jesus. I dont think it would be possible to gather DNA from that source, but a very interesting thought process!

The DNA would have deteriorated by now...
Remember, DNA degrades as times passes by...
The Shroud of Turin has also been exposed to air and and water and fire...So any DNA that was there is long gone by now...
And in recent times the Shroud of Turin was exposed to X-rays and other things.
It has also been contaminated by other people touching it and, again, many other things through the centuries...
But God is not a physical being with DNA per se...As a spiritual being you don't need DNA....

While he did provide the needed genetic material for Jesus, The creator is a spirit and has no physical characteristics.

From his sire, whoever that was. I do not accept his divinity. I do, however, believe in his sincere sensitive, and intelligent behavior. He was the antithesis of roman cruelty, and was welcomed because of his courage. And yes, I believe Jesus had strong Mediterranean features. He was after all, a product of the population of that area.
