Parents who were promiscous when they were young, know the mistake(s) they made by doing so. Therefore, they don't want their children to experience the same thing, or these days, even worse--std's, aids, etc.

Parents have the best experience in life so far, they can give the best guidance to their beloved kids and protect them from any physical harm that promiscuis behaviour would cause on them. Yes they were promiscuous themselves may be due to lack of proper parental care, since now they are adults they would want to give the best to their up growing children so that they grow up into responsible adults and nature the future generation free from ever worsening calamitous conditions like the HIV and Aids.

Actually, teens who perceive that their parents disapprove of teen sex are significantly more likely than average to be virgins at age 18. So the abstinence message *DOES* in fact work! Whatever mistakes parents made themselves should not prevent them from communicating a clear and consistent message to their own children that sex is risky for teens. Teenagers have the highest rate of contraceptive failure and STD's of all age groups. Abstinence is the *ONLY* 100% effective way of protecting against pregnancy and STD's.

Personally speaking it's because I'm trying to be a good mum. I hope my children will learn from mistakes. I know they will make their own mistakes & hopefully learn from them too. It's my job to guide & teach my children. I encourage abstinance but I've also taught them about safe sex. Any responsible parent would do the same.
Would you prefer it if parents encouraged their children to be promiscuous? I'm sure you'd soon be sounding off if we did! If your moaning because your parents have 'preached' to you about sex then maybe you should just be grateful that they that much care about you. There are plenty of children with parents who don't.

Its not about "what goes around comes around"
Its about them, as parents, they want the best for you and they dont want you to get hurt, sometimes being sexually with somebody can make u get attached while the other person is just enjoyng of your sex. and thats what your rents dont want you to go thru.
But ofcourse thats is something very natural, if do it with a person u care about. If you are underage, that is your parents bussines too, but if ur lefgal, u are free to make choices regarding anything in yor life and the last thing u will think about when u do it is your parents. But Only when u becamo a parent you will understand the love and the hope for he best that a parent has to His Her child.

I hope that if u are doing it, at least you have something serious with this person.

Yes, it seems hypocritical, but we're just trying to protect our kids and to let them benefit from our mistakes. Unprotected (and sometimes even protected) sex can lead to unwanted pregnancy, STDs, and AIDS. Even though kids are taught this, when you're a teenager, you seem to think you're invincible and that it can't happen to you. So, as parents, we preach abstinence because even though teenagers may feel emotionally and physically ready for sex, they are not yet adult enough to fully understand the consequences.

Nature is quite right... due to the silly notion of copy friends and relgion people dont see themselves as part of nature

Relgious influenced idiots going with the crowd instead of being realisitc and copying the dutch system which involved teaching sex ed and realtioships non stop since age four all the way through to 18 so teenagers are experts on all aspects of sex with parents making sure long term contraception is used and condosm as supplying it themselves with morning after pills at home and a very open embarasment free attiude to sex.

Mainly relgion and idiotics and weak pathetic irresponsible parents.

This does not happen in many norther european countires like holland

Parents don't want there kids to make the same mistakes they did so thats why we teach our kids to be abstinance. If you are the parent you should understand. But if you are the kid when you have your own kids you will understand why we preach.

Well, it's but natural for parents to preach abstinence. I have never heard of a parent who actually told his/her kids that it's cool to be promiscuous. Haha.

Because they don't want to make their kids to make the same mistakes they did. And if a kid is going to have sex, they should be properly educated as to condoms, birth control, STDS, etc. But mostly I think the parents preach this because they feel guilty about their actions when they were their kids age, and don't want them to go through the same pain. I lost my virginity to someone I didn't even care about when I was 16 and I did it because I wanted to "fit in" with all the other girls. It was horrible.

Most of them don't exactly "preach" it but they teach it because they teach their kids the right thing to do. Just b/c the parents make mistakes, doesn't mean they are not going to teach their children right from wrong. If a parent used to steal, they are still going to teach their children it is not right to steal.
