I live on the Sunshine Coast in between Mooloolaba and Kawana. Maroochydore is the most central area, and has probably the largest general shopping area. It's convenient for shops, schools, etc, but is quite busy.

Caloundra is a bit further south than the rest of these places. It has a large shopping area as well, but probably not as good as Maroochydore, and is a bit more spread out. There are some nice beaches in Caloundra. I think accomodation can be found a little bit cheaper there as well.

Kawana isn't as nice as the others, unless you can afford to live on Kawana Island - a nice little spot. The busy Nicklin Way runs through Kawana. Travelling that road takes a long time (very busy and too many traffic lights).

Mooloolaba is quite lovely. A nice area with nice beaches, but very touristy and as such, a bit more expensive. HEAPS of cafes along the Esplanade - across from the beach, and a few night clubs here as well. Some residents don't like the late night noise on weekends, but that would depend on where you are exactly. It's very close to Maroochydore. Alexandra Headlands is between the two, and is nice as well. Cotton Tree is another area next to these which is also nice.

Out of the choices you've picked, I'd choose Maroochydore, Mooloolaba or somewhere in between. Buddina is another nice little spot close to nice beaches and Kawana Shopping World. It's not far from Mooloolaba either. It all depends on personal taste and expense.

I hope I've helped a bit. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to ask :)

Saheed19, there are other places in the world beside the USA (no shyt!!). The Sunshine Coast is a region of approx 250000 people on the coast of Queensland, Australia.

Any of those places (Kawana, Mooloolaba, Caloundra etc) are fairly similar. I think it will more or less come down to price you are prepared tp spend. The closer you are to the beach, the more expensive.

Enjoy it when you arrive!!

Wow - you'll find it so different from Chch, you'll love it no matter what place you choose.
Personally I perfer Caloundra or Noosa.

For info go to 'Comprehensive guide to travel and tourism for the Sunshine Coast region of ... and other general information.' http://www.sunshinecoast.org

OR more on 'Local Info' for the places you mentioned look at 'Sunshine Coast Events, Community News, Real Estate, Employment and Business Directory' http://www.mysunshinecoast.com.au

That should help you out a bit.
