ok well... i have sort of a decision to make. which i know shouldn't be hard... but hey im asking anyway. ok so im living in holland i have duel citizen ship and i'm American and Dutch although i lived in america all m life up until 3 and a half years ago, now im living uin europe, anyway im wondering if i by any chance at all joined the dutch military if i later on when i can move back to the states if i can then quit the dutch one and then go into the American one is that possible? i'd be joining the Air Force. OH and if its not possible, then i''ll Definently choose the american one cuz it just freakin rocks, and its where i feel i belong pretty much. ( the reson why i'd join the dutch one is for a little more experience with it all and to pass the tiem until im able to go back to america.)

Ummm if you want to eventually join the US Military then i would just do that now. With all the incentives, I doubt Holland could compete with the money you could get now.

To answer your question, yes as a veteran I know for a fact that if you are a veteran of a nother country's military you could join the US military as long as you still qualified and Im sure it would have to be a friendly nation etc. But i have known people from the Canadian, Israeli and other countries who joined when i did etc.

So it is possible.

If you want more concrete answers on incentives etc, you should speak to a recruiter.

No, if you enlisted in the Dutch military, you would lose your US citizenship.

That would be the same as declaring, you were forfeiting your US citizenship, to take Dutch citizenship.

Section 349(a)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act [8 U.S.C. 1481(a)(3)] which provides for loss of U.S. nationality if an American voluntarily and with the intention of relinquishing U.S. citizenship enters or serves in foreign armed forces engaged in hostilities against the United States or serves in the armed forces of any foreign country as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer.

you'd have to find out whether the US would consider you enlisting into the Dutch Military a tacit forfeiture of your American Citizenship. You also need to find out whether the US Military will allow you to serve after serving in a Foreign military.
