Imagine yourself an alien from a distant galaxy who happens to visit Earth and was suddenly accosted by an evagelical Christian proselytizing about Jesus being the saviour and that only through acceptance of him as its personal saviour would it be saved ... I mean first off, does the whole Christian doctrine even apply to a non-Earthling? The concept of a world outside our own never even crossed the minds of the people who were supposedly inspired to put God's word into writing, so how could they have anticipated a being from another planet showing up? Is heaven then exclusively for humans who accepted JC as their savior?? I mean what sort of paradigm could you possibly even use to explain the concept of Christianity to this alien that would allow itself gain entrance to the Kingdom of God? The alien never went through the whole human experience and would never comprehend the human pathos that leads to our acceptance of the biblical teachings....

The point of the question was to see how secure Christians feel in general about their faith and whether or not this hypothetical scenario will test their beliefs or not. The other interesting notion I got from your answers below is that maybe God sent Jesus to "save" us human precisely because of our fallible nature vis-à-vis an alien from another world who's had no such vile characteristics as humans do, would never understand the need for a savior sent by God to save us from eternal damnation.

You would be correct in your characterization about the hypothetical alien's perspective: He/she/it would have no human frame of reference to even begin to understand any human religion. It would be quite reasonable for it to simply note the religion as one among many of human superstitions...and go on about whatever its business was.

If it's business was to convert us to ITS religion...well then things could get ugly really fast.

I asked a similar question once and the best answer I got was that aliens don't need Christianity because they didn't have the same fall from grace that humans did. The answerer also said that aliens have the same God as we do but don't need Jesus as a savior because they are already saved. Basically, I got the impression that the person was telling me that aliens are doing everything 'right' and that they don't need the Bible like we do. Weird, I know.

the only way the government ought to hush up some thing like this is that if the extraterrestrial beings landed awesome in direction of a militia base with a relatively small craft and with extraterrestrial beings that weren't effectual adequate to flee. otherwise, in the event that they landed say in direction of Paris, or ny, it may be extraordinarily perplexing to conceal up with each and all the digital camera telephones and eye witnesses. might there be anarchy and panic? That in all probability relies upon on what the extraterrestrial beings did whilst they land. in the event that they could talk and exhibit non violent reason, perhaps no longer. in the event that they have been antagonistic and violent, then of direction there may be panic.

Interesting scenario, even if it is a bit far-fetched. I would have to say that a being from another world would want to learn all it can about the people on our planet, including Christians.

A being from another planet would no doubt be intelligent enough to know that supression of beliefs and ideas just because we don't understand and agree with them is not logical or constructive. Which is more than I can say for some of the natives on this little planet of ours! ... Blessings!

I think that if an alien landed on Earth and asked people which was the One True Faith, he'd rapidly come to the conclusion that nobody has a clue...

He would probably be worshipped by Christians as the sign of the second coming. Then he would probably enslave all who worshipped him and take them away. At least, that's what I hope would happen in that situation.
