i was creeped out when i was 8 years old and saw a red lamp in someones window accross a street in a building near my house, ive never ever seen it untill after my Grandfather died, i moved and now when i passed by in my dads car its just a gold lamp

The first time, was it glowing red? Maybe it was the same gold lamp just lit up. I don't know whether you saw it at night or during the day.
Alternatively, it might be a new lamp!

Maybe the first time it was dirty and discoloured, and then they had it cleaned.

I would guess that you just happened to notice the two different colors at the times you did and someone there decided on some different interior decorating schemes. It could also be that maybe you just thought you saw a red lamp when it was a gold one all along? I wouldn't worry about it, it's just a lamp. If you are really scared by something you deem is evil, unnatural, or of that nature, you can always do as is said in Mark 16:17. "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;" All you need to say is "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to flee" because God says that demons will flee at the very name of Jesus. It helps if you are a true believer in Jesus Christ.

It used to be that "Working Girls" would place a red lamp in their window as an advertisement. hence the phrase "red light district"

old wise tale is to keep the light burning so they can find the light when they pass over some lights in the window mean they hope the person left will find their way back home safe
