Someone on T.V. said that the human heart isn't completely fulfilled without God, so that's why people are addicted to gambling, sex, alcohol, etc.
Well if people are fulfilled by God and religion, doesn't that make it just another addiction?

I don't think it has to be. However, there are some people that are truly addicted to their religion. Usually they came out of some other addiction, and are just swapping one compulsion for another.
The "born again" types are infamous for this. They turn all ideas of self-responsibility onto a notion of an externalized entity, having a moment of bliss. Then like a bad drug, they try to recapture that first high by being more and more religious, when in fact it just makes them lose more and more of their mind.

Yes it does religion is or was one of the most dangerous drugs known to man only it cannot be banned as it is not a narcotic. There have been those over the centuries which have abused it like any drug. The results worse than Crack addiction. Many people tortured ,killed, raped, and afterwards continued to believe in it. May seem callous to say so but why.At time there might have been less belief than expected so why maintain system. Religion is just another habit to shake by using equivalent to addiction service.,war and oil are other addictions. No one raids churches suggesting Bibles are unsuitable for young people or places ratings on The Bible and warnings of legal challenges if people not 18 read it. The Bible is not Cannabis so does not alarm people.

Religion is a cult. It brain washes people into believing there is something bigger then them out there, yeah it's called the universe. Yes, it is an addiction in the sense that people want to feel belonging to something, pretty much like I said before it's a cult. Nobody really pays attention to what the bible is saying anymore they just praise it without knowing. I and many other people like me have theorized that the bible is merely a story made up so that people could sleep better at night knowing there was something coming after death. The true mythological religions are an eye to what happened in the past, stories that can tell us where we truely came from if you look close enough and see past the whole god babble. I could count it as an addiction, sure, in extreme cases.
Think about it for a moment: When you are part of a religious group, you are treated as "one of the good guys" by that group. You are frequently emotionally validated by your fellows, and conversely validate everyone else in your group. It feels good, even intoxicating for some.
It's entirely possible to get "drunk" on religion...so caught up in the emotionalism that good judgement and reason are thrown out the window. Pentecoastals, Baptists, and other particularly exubrant groups are especially good at overriding reason with emotional stimulus. It's only a small step from there to "everyone else should be like us".

ok, you were watching the wrong tv station. addictions are caused by weaknesses in character and dna, doesn't have anything to do with God, unless, that is, they were saying through prayer and asking God's help a person may have the strength to stay away from their addiction(s).
no, religion is not an addiction. Religion (faith) is a choice.

No. Gambling, sex and alcohol addictions are physical and mental and result in negative consequences. Being fulfilled Spiritually by God (not religion) can only be positive! ... Blessings!

I certainly think that some people are addicted to religion. Why that happens, I don't claim to know, other than perhaps it becomes the only way they can feel good about themselves.

religion is not an addiction, over zealous practise might be categorized as addiction. Religion is a way to get your life into perspective not life itself

It's worse than addiction. It closes the human mind and makes him accept things blindly. When this tendency gets carried forward in other spheres of life,it stunts his intellectual and spiritual growth.
