If you're not part of the problem or the solution, then it's gossiping. We're not suppose to do it.

Doesn't matter what the bible says about it. You want to say something about a person, say it to their face. If you can't because you'd feel bad, remember that the next time you're talking about them behind their back. It's not normal human nature, it just has occured recently due to the fact that society views it as perfectly normal. That's the truth of the matter.

Its human nature but Christains are supposed to set an example in love, faith, puirity, and understanding. They are supposed to rise above it and strive to not do that.
It's not like you're gonna go to hell or get excommunicated and infact, I do it too much any way. Thanks for the Reality check.

Read Proverbs. Lots of verses about how to be nice, and what not to do.

Look at how Jesus did it. He did not talk behind the backs of the Sadducece or the Pharasiees. He answered their questions right to their faces.

Basicly, just be nice. Don't lie about people. Don't state your uncomfortable feelings as if they are verified facts.

Romans 1:28-32
talking about homosexuals, but what they are doing is unrighteous, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, pround, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, convenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful. and it goes on to say that they enjoy doing it. but backbiting is in there as a no-no, because all they were doing was evil, so yeah..its bad to do it. we are also supposed to love one another as Christ loved us[which he loved us A LOT]. [John 15:12] no we arent perfect, and we make mistakes-doesnt mean you do it INTENTIONALLY. so try NOT to. hope that was a little helpful..

Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor, and do upon others as you do, yourself. HOWEVER, tear the page out of the rule book. If you sense there's an Athiest around, bash them, and grab the first foreign object, so you can beat some sense into them, so they think like you do. Born again?? I was born right the first time. Live, and let live. Let them suffer their own destiny. It's their eternal damnation. Let them have it. Jesus would walk past them, because he was busy healing the sick. Let them have their predetermined destiny. He wouldn't stop and argue with them, there's more important work to be done.

proverbs 20:19-
'he who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, therefore do not associate with a gossip'

romans 1;29-
'being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice;they are gossips'

Christ commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves...that runs 180 degrees counter of gossiping...

I don't know any specific Bible verses, I only know that for me , a Christian is to love his fellow man and not judge him, but forgive him and pray for him. As a human being I can tell you that "he that stirs SH*T often gets splashed by it himself".

It is wrong to do that stuff. In Dante's Inferno, the ninth circle of Hell was reserved for the backstabbers.
