My step-mom was raised to believe that people are born with religion... I sort of object because I never chose this religion. (Unless I had some sort of agreement in my past life -- if you believe in that sort of thing)

"Were you born with a brain?"
Oh I'm sorry were you talking to me? Think before you speak, asswipe. I was just curious. I'm not religious nor do I study religion in my home.

In a way, she's right. People these days are born into their religion. They follow what their parents believe much like they follow their political views. Then they get out and discover that there's more out there than what they were taught. That's when they choose to change or remain the same. That's when they truely accept a religion or deny it.

For example, I was born Christian, and one I thought about it. I used all the logic and free-thought I had gained over the years, did some research, and decided that there's not enough evidence that someone named Jesus even existed. But I do maintain that a god could exist. Maybe.

I do not think you are born into a religion so to speak. It is a learned thing and usually starts at home if the parents are religious. Yes you may not agree with the church of choice but if you are a believer when you are older you can search out the one that is right for you. I knew young that something was missing in my life and I searched until I was 49 but I did find it. It was in God's time and not mine. I would not change a thing in my life now nor in my past because it is my past that makes me who i am and gives me the life experiences to help others.

No one was born with religion but... science says seeking out a higher power is programed in the brain.

I saw a science program once where they had found people on an island that were separate from the rest of main stream world. The people had found an old WW plane and items from a crash. They had started worshiping the items like religious relics.

There must be a reason for this but no one has the answer.

I don't think we are born with religion at all. I think sometimes religion is confusing. I do think we are born in the image of God and therefore we have a great insight into many things that we might not even realize that we have. We have a spirit and that spirit came from God and it will go back to God for which it came from one day. So we have a conscious of good and bad. We know right from wrong when we are children because this was instilled into us by God.So as far as religion then here is this... Jesus came to teach love. Jesus said love thy brother like your neighbor. Jesus only taught what was right. Jesus never came to make war or start a religious battle.Jesus never taught people to kill or hurt one other, Jesus ask us to love our enemies and love those that hate us. Jesus taught against war and the love of money.Jesus taught only good things. Jesus was love and long suffering. Jesus said that in the end days the true religion will be taught though out the world. So I guess everyone will know what the true religion is one day according to Jesus word. Thank you and God Bless you.

With a main stream religon, no. You are forced into whstever your parents believe but some are born with a certian knowledge of the truth.

I come from a long line of pshicics and i was born what some call a natural witch. I have always known I was different and the bull they spouted at the church my mom dragged me to every sunday was nonsence.

If you look within yourself and truly focus on who you are way down deep you will find the ltimate truth.

No. When a person is born they are a blank slate eagerly soaking up information about the world around them like a sponge. Religion has to be taught, just like anything else. Contrary to the Christian claim, no one has any specific faith "writ in their hearts" at birth.

Personality, temprament, and new information may change their minds later on, but generally most young children accept what their parents tell them as truth...even when it obviously isn't.

What? That's ridiculous. Religion is something you're taught, or learn on your own. Heck, I don't think it's even right to say that children have a "religion"; they just go along with the services of their parents' religion, not understanding it yet.

No because many people convert at a later age. just like math and science, you are taught. At some point, almost everyone asks themselves whether or not they want to stick with their taught religion. Some choose to stay and some don't.

GOD (Allah) challenges man to write one verse like that of the QURAN... IT IS SURLEY IMPOSSIBLE.. MAY ALLAH GUIDE US ALL.. PEACE

Oh, I dunno... maybe you're not born with religion... but I believe I was born with a certain belief system. All the church-going of my younger years and subsequent re-tries never did change what I had always believed, and I didn't even know there was a name for it til I was over 40.
