If someone is locked away for a crime they committed (which is a fact), but they get an appeal, can their sentence be reduced? In this case there were factors about the case (court-appointed attorney, took the first plea bargain he got) that make me wonder, since he didn't get a 'good' lawyer...

A prisoner serving sentence can be released when on appeal the penalty was reduced due to valid grounds.

Yea those court appointed attorney's never act in the best interest of the defendant. They work daily with the prosecutor and seeks only to facilitate a plea and get the case solved quickly so they can go screw someone else over.

if the person locked up has taken a plea bargain,.....he has plead guilty,.....don't think there will be an appeals process,.....

in some cases yes they can if an inmate is good in jail or prison they can get out early for good behavior
