My boyfriend and I have decided to take the big step and make love. Still, I heard a lot of girls saying that it hurts a lot the first time. How much *does* it hurt, really? Do you have any hints or tips so that it wouldn't hurt so much? Thanks a bunch.

Only a little and only once,

The first time the vagina is penetrated by a penis inside of a virgin female the hymen is broken. This is a flap of skin that is meant to protect the vagina. It does cause some pain and some bleeding, but the pain is supposed to be minor.

According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hymen
"Once a girl reaches puberty, the hymen tends to become quite elastic. It is not possible to determine whether a woman uses tampons or not by examining her hymen: only 43% of women report bleeding the first time they had sex; which means that in the other 57% of women the hymen likely stretched enough that it didn't tear."

So you might not have much of a problem, if you stress about though you will be more likely to feel the pain. If you concentrate on the mood and your love and know that the pain will only happen once then sex should be enjoyable.

Just PLEASE, please do me one favor and make him wear a condom. If you have decided to have sex then I anything I tell you on if you should or shouldn't have sex isn't going to matter; but if you don't make him use protection then the possible pregnancy can ruin your life. It is always possible to get pregnant when you have sex, always; you need to make sure that you take precautions and a condom is the simple and easiest one. Even if you are on the birth control pill, the pill won't protect you against sexual diseases and I don't care if you have a relationship with each other or with other people, or if this is the first time for both of you, you need to make him wear a condom each and every time and you need to make it a habit. Unless you want to ask another question about abortion or how to raise an unwanted child and still have a social life.

It all depends on the person. It can hurt, or you might almost not notice it. The only hint or help I can give you, is to stretch your legs. For girls that are into sports, their cherry can get popped without them making love. If you do lots of stretching, it will make your cherry thin and easier for your b/f to pop.
Remember, DO NOT worry about any pain. Look into your b/f eyes and remember why you are making love.

I've had my center damaged a few occasions. It fairly hurts whilst you believe matters are going good after which suddenly the woman says she's simply no longer interested. It by no means will get less difficult and it's not a high-quality feeling.

I do know that if you do it slow the first time she wont hurt at all... I have only taken 4 peoples virginity and none of them has hurt... that I know of... I have always gone slow just incase. Of course we get into and I end up going faster and faster eventually... The only thing that will hurt to matter what is not wearing a condom... Two reasons, STDs and babies...

however in the end its worth it, because the pleasure far out weighs the pain!!!!!!!!!!!!

hints:
foreplay
lube

By what I remember, it'll hurt... maybe a lot... take some Tylenol before hand... if you don't want it to hurt, go slow, use KY jelly, stuff like that.

It's not going to be an enjoyable time or earth-shattering sex. You will be clumsy and fumble around... but just take your time...

Sweetheart, my biggest tip for you is: if you're worried about how much it will hurt, then you're not ready to take that step!
