Yes! That's exactly it!

"Charity is without fear: having given all that it has, it has nothing left to lose. It brings true peace, since it is in perfect concord with all that is good, and fears no evil. Charity alone is perfectly free, always doing what it pleases: since it wills nothing except to love and cannot be prevented from loving."

I'd say be careful, Val, be aware.

Love is beautiful, etc.

But it can be polluted. Attachment, ownership, possessiveness are the things that stain it, and can cause people to kill for it...

Sometimes to avoid this arising the Buddha, and other religious teacher have advised us to reflect, from time to time, on the 'foulness' or 'unappealing' aspects of the body, for example.

All in a * ~ Healthy ~ * spirit, though,
mind you. :-)

It's a balanced path. Sometimes you need (to give) mo' love, sometimes you need more restraint, sometimes - most often, you need BOTH. :-)

... or just, to "let go". :-)

... to keep things right, and straight. Good & Wholesome.

There are those, including the Buddha, who've said love & friendship are the whole of the Spiritual Life.

I think a mindful, circumspect one is Best.

But that's just me. :-)

... and I 'am' a slacker / in the slow lane. :-)

Truly, madly, deeply is good but...

Hmmm. :-)

Bless you, Luvabug!

i. c.

Edit:

I think also, that we need to make it branch out, wider & broader, so that our love is not just 'invested' on one, two, or a few people; but expands to include all of life & the living.

Our rewards would be commensurate.

Would involve a gradual 'taming' process; but would render one fit, to be called a Sage.

A Priestess.

A Yogini.

A 'Nun'. :-)

With Metta,

If it is the right love with pure intention that comes into the heart, then yes, fear shall go away. True love washes every stain of doubt and takes away all dread and anxiety that block the spirit from being free. It gives the assurance of constancy and company through everything and through all times.
But it it's the kind that is self-centered, the more fear one will have for himself. It will instead bring him insecurities and unwanted distrust which will weaken his faith in love...and finally lose it away in his darkened soul.

It depends on which love you are talking about. If it is what the world calls love, then usually not, it is wrought with fear. Fear they will leave, fear of opening yourself up & being exposed, fear of not being accepted, ETC,ETC, ETC. But if we are talking about the ultimate love of the Spirit, then yes. Many a time I have found my heart heavy, angry, &fearful, then the Spirit enters & all the rough edges are made smooth, clarity without accusation occurs, & fear is just gone. Thanks for a wonderful question.

I see so many warnings against love on these posts. It makes me very sad.

My son asked me, "Is a billion a number?".
Yes, it is.
"Then I love Mommy one billion."

Each time I have loved I grew to fit more of the world into me. Fear is fear, and not a character of love. The worst fear would be the fear of love. What could you possibly gain, that so many of the shades of love are the price?

No, because one of the most basic fears for a human being is being afraid of love, of opening one's self to another person that fully, of being left behind, abandoned or betrayed, in a way that makes every moment of love both exquisite and terrifying. Bittersweet, for lack of a better term.

Loves abode is within the heart of man.
Fears abode is within the mind of man.

As Love is watered and nourished within mans heart, man will learn in time to overpower fear. This is when man controls the mind instead of allowing the mind to control man. It is in this process that man awakens to self-realization. This is when the true self makes its presence felt. Man then becomes seated within the heart, allowing the petals of the heart to open.
"Wisdom" is released within man and this "Wisdom" dispels the darkness of illusion that man has been immersed in.

Fear cannot survive in an environment that is filled with "Love".....

John 8:12 says it all for me.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Fear is fleeting in the presents of love. Once one finds someone who they truly love, and when that love is returned. Even in the saddest of events, you still find comfort and a since of peace.
