How long does it usually take for fudge to harden in the fridge? I've had it in there for a couple of hours. Did I do something wrong?

How do you keep it from being gooey? I don't have a thermometer, I just went by the time the recipie told me.

Fudge can be tricky to make. The Fudge I made- always hardened into delicious "concrete" all by itself on the Counter Top WITHOUT any refrigeration... So it sounds like there's something amiss with yours. Oh well, if it STILL tastes alright- you can always eat it with a spoon.. :) :)

Mine does not have to go into the fridge to "set up" either--I think that it is IMPOSSIBLE to make candy without a thermometer!!! An accurate temperature is the only way to make sure your candy (fudge or any other) is successful. You have soft ball and hard ball stage, for instance, and even those temps vary by elevation, so an approx time frame could never work for everyone.
My advice would be to grab the bottle of caramel ice cream topping from the fridge and enjoy! Oh! Dollar stores do sell cheap candy thermometers--they can save your candy!
