I don't think you understand--atheists don't believe in a god, end of story. It's nihilists who claim to not believe in anything. Atheists believe in all sorts of things--I believe that chocolate is tasty, that sex is fun, and that Buster Keaton is funnier than Charlie Chaplin. Also, I like to come to R & S because I enjoy metaphysics and exchanging ideas with other people. Finally, you're not the Czar of Religion & Spirituality, so you really don't have any say as to who can post here...

So I can answer this question for the billionth time.
I'm here for the same reason I'm in the mathematics section: because religion & spirituality is a subect I've studied for a long time and know a lot about, and I feel I can answer many questions concerning it.
This is the "Religion & Spirituality" section, not the "Religious & Spiritual People Only" section. I don't see non-mathematicians being yelled at in the math section.

Oh as I stated about 25 minutes ago (if that) It's because I want to understand why Theists believe in a god that only appeared in human history 4-5000 years ago(bible written 1500BC) but scoff at any of the ancient religions........Christianity was only first practiced in 33AD.

Ahem, didn't you notice this question has been asked 184,089,931,096,705,294 times before? Did you think the answers would change?
For old times sake... Because I can. Because I'm interested in ethics which is considered spiritual but completely unrelated to religion. Because I think religious fanatics (of all religions) are dangerous. I can list more reasons if you want me to, just say the word.
