The old rhyme is, A cold takes 3 days coming, 3 days here and 3 days going; and usually you don't notice it on the first day.

The cold virus is highly susceptible to mutation so there is always a new strain, and thanks to airlines the always travel world wide. I have even been in a place that had its own strain of the cold and every person new to the place caught it.

Colds usually last 48-72 hours. It really depends on your immune system and things of that nature. Just med up on some cold medicine and you should be fine :)
