Why is that when a Christian says anything about Creation we're automatically deemed stupid but if an athiest praises evoulition they must be a genisus? I for one think it takes more faith to believe in evoulition than Creation.

Hun, if you want to sound smart, try making sure at the very least you spell most of your words correctly. In your case I don't think it has anything to do with your religion, sorry.

we're
athiest
evoulition
genisus
evoulition (again!)

I mean, come on, is this a joke?

First, you should have an apostrophe " ' " in the word we're.

It takes quite little "faith" to believe in what there is evidence for. There is evidence for evolution. There is no evidence for creation, as there is no evidence that there is a god to have created things.

There is no argument for creation that has not been addressed, at least in part if not fully, by science.

Too, not all atheists believe in evolution. The word "atheist" merely means that a person does not believe in a god; it says nothing about evolution or spirituality. Even an atheist could theoretically believe in intelligent design, as the designer doesn't necessarily have to be a god.

Nobody says that a person promoting evolution is necessarily a genius. In fact, not all, perhaps not most scientists are geniuses. Most are likely somewhat above average, but there is a wide chasm between "above average" and "genius".

It might take more faith for you to believe evolution, but that is only because it is a larger leap for you. You've likely been taught from an early age that the Bible is absolute truth, and to discount that is uncomfortable. You have the devil running around the fence of dogma, keeping you in line.

I like the words of Galileo who said "The Bible teaches us how to get to heaven, not how the heavens were made." The same could apply to the Earth.

I am not an atheist but I can give you a answer.
The reason is because in most religions people are blindly following words in a book that could be completely wrong or part truth.
We must all know that if our religion is right then the others are wrong. So what is the right religion?
There theory is there are many religions so you know automatically they are right about most people being stupid blindly following and living your life by a book that could have been written by any one.

Most think they are right in there religion because they have been raised with that belief. All our family members believe, most if not some of it any way.
In an area with many Christians you normally here people quote the bible, even people who have questioned it so... it must be true.

This is why people who say they are atheists think people who are religious are stupid but... even science says our brains are programmed to seek out religion.
There must be a reason for this.
I honestly believe that if we were all ( the world ) more spiritual then religious then there would be much less war.

In my experience religion does allot to people. It has been the world over the reasoning behind so many wars.
Many Christians and other religions believe they are right and all other religions are wrong.
Man has used religion to be self-righteous and gain power.
Not just power over other countries but power over woman and less fortunate people.
In my book man has been extremely disillusioned.
I don't think any God went out of his way to create or have any part of a book that could be translated in any way into any of the bad things I have described.

I am not saying all religious people are like that or that only people of one religion are going to heaven, but you have to see my point on why an Atheist might think Christians are stupid.

Simple answer

Evolution has a large body of EVIDENCE that can be used to support it's claims.

Creation has the bible, which has a lot of SPIRITUAL truth in it, but very little in terms of true scientific facts.

Longer answer

Frankly, it just comes down to the fact that Evolution happend. Even the pope can't deny it! Although he does point out that it is a somewhat incomplete theory (as any religious leader would), it still has more evidence behind it than saying "God says I want stuff and POOF!"

As for your comment stating it requires more faith to believe in evolution, its like saying it takes more faith to believe your parents got married after you watch a video tape of the ceremony.

I'm really sorry, because I hate to let the athiests win, but they got us here.

I don't think all Christians are stupid. They're like any other demographic group--some are smart, some are not so smart. I even know somebody in Mensa who believes in Young-Earth Creationism, and he can do a good job of arguing his point.

What I don't care for are people--Christian or atheist--who can't debate in a rational sort of way, but have to resort to name-calling or other childish behavior. They take the fun out of the interchange of ideas and turn everything into a grudge match...

Evolution is a scientific theory. Creation is not. End of story. No, not everyone who believes in evolution is a genius. The fact that you don't know how to spell "we're" might have something to do with that first question.

I just recently moved from being an Atheist to a believer of Christ. Atheists feel offended by Christians in that they generally say they are "going to hell" or look down upon them for having no faith. I saw creation as a simple way to answer how everything came to be, just like "pop!" That's how it all began! I viewed science as the definite answer to everything, and now reflecting upon that logic it really is quite silly. To answer your question, I think Atheists are unwilling to accept other beliefs or ideas, mostly because they are not open minded. Allow them to consider how humans have not evolved over the past thousands of years from our "monkey days" and why monkeys remain "unevolved" and not like us. Adaptation is fact, but evolution is the science's simple answer.

Your statement is exactly why you catch so much flak. If you honestly think science (which is evidence based) takes more faith that your FAITH based belief system then you are woefully misinformed about whatever peer reviewed, evidence supported scientific theory your arguing against. If you would take the time to review the evidence (not creationist propaganda) then you too would understand.

I think it's got something to do with the mountains of scientific research and evidence versus an old book that says ol' Jeehoovah did it.

ADDENDUM: I get a real kick out of the "refusing to believe i evolved from smelly , stupid flee [SIC] ridden apes" and similar statements...reality doesn't change just because you don't like the sound of it.

Thats like asking-"Why do Christians think athiests are stupid?" It's just an ongoing battle between athiesm and theism. I'm a Christian too, and I ain't not stupid...
