Your employer can only do a credit background check prior to hiring you and you have to consent to this before they do it. They do this to make sure you're credit history isn't so horrible that you'll steal from the company and that you're responsible. They cannot look into your credit after that.

I presume you are talking about a job in finance. If so, no. The general consensus with all finance positions (at least in Canada) is that if you can not handle your finances and have bad credit, why should you be managing someone else's?
However, I am unsure how often your company will pull a bureau on you. Standardly in Canada it is only upon acceptance of employment. I suggest getting your finances in order and try and keep it good.
Practice what you preach so-to-speak because if you have wrecked your credit and your employer finds out, you may be out of a job!

If you are hired, then they can do a background check on you at any time. I used to get one every 5 years.
Two ways to look at it. If your credit goes into the toilet, 500 or less, then you are susceptible to either bribes or stealing from the company's point of view.
If however, you have more money than what they pay you, then you either are stealing, or you are taking bribes or embezzling. Or you are doing well in the stock market.
Nothing to protect you on this. They already have your ssn, so get used to the idea. They are trying to protect themselves.

I have never heard of anything happening after you get a job and your credit gets worse. Some employers do credit checks pre-employment. Does it say anything about your credit in your employee handbook? Read it and see.

what does the credit has to do with hiring someone ?
ive never heard of someone checking your credit to get a job... Id think that they only need that for credit , apartment, credit cards, car loan etc... And if htey do need that if they hired you already you are fine!!! THey shouldnt check your credit for another year or even never again,,,
