This may be an off the wall question but in John 16:8 when Jesus speaks of the comforter or companion that is to come when He goes to heaven. Jesus uses the term "he" to refer to the Holy Spirit and "he" is not capitolized. In the NT "He" in reference to Jesus and God is capitolized but not the Holy Spirit in John 16:8. Why is this???

Did you know that there are no capital letters in the Greek or Hebrew languages? They didn't have punctuation either. Capitalization and punctuation were added by the translates. Chapters were not added until the 1400s and verses in 1650. All of these are void of authority.

The Holy Spirit can be a SHE! -- a female principle, in Trinity -- in fact, portrayed as such in some Medieval Art -- (or at least angel-like, sexless) -- & in Bible itself, in same vein, as Dove [i.e neuter gender] e.g.
In this sense incidentally God still a 'He' [excuse-me ladies] -- Creative comp. to Procreative attributes, will skip the details -- because 2 of 3 [Father; Jesus] clearly so --

Because the Holy Spirit is not a glorified perfect being like God and Christ. The capital H is used to denote respect and sacredness, but the Holy Spirit does not need this. He is still important, but not that important.

The writers (editors) when the Bible [this particular version] went to print, did not capitalize this word.

Well, he's not a religious nut on Yahoo answers, he doesn't believe in wanton, random capitalization.
That's a good question though. It seems to suggest inferiority. Is that acceptable to Catholics I wonder?
