No you should not have to leave! You can be the last to leave if you chose. There are always people that leave early. Older guest or people with children. Enjoy yourself!!!! It is your night!!!

The bride and groom do what they want to because tit is their day...that is #1, and #2, I hav e NEVER been to a wedding reception that the bride and groom left anything earlier than LAST. Usually you stay and clean up and get all the gifts to your car,(if there are any) and get the decorations and bouquets put in your car, and like at mine we will have to take all the centerpeivces, so no you should probably leave last. Unless you want to leave earlier, in which case GO FOR IT.

I've never seen a bride and groom leave before the guests. In fact, I've never seen a "send off" either. The DJ usually annouces that they will be playing the last song for the evening and asks everyone again to join the bride and groom for the last song of the night.
When the music is done. Everyone gets their things together, goes and hugs/kisses the bride and groom, wishes them well and leaves. The bride and groom and their parents are the last to leave. They have to make sure nothing is left behind and everything is settled.
I think the "send off" is cheesy, IMO

You won't be the first to leave, but try not to be the last -- some people will hang around until The Party Is Over. You know how long the DJ 's going to play, skip out a couple of songs before they finish. Once the music stops and the lights come on, you'll have to do the receiving line all over again if you're still there. Leave on a "high" note instead.

no, at our wedding we left after almost everyone else did, we wanted to mingle with our guest that traveled far to celebrate with us, i have never been to a wedding where the bride and the groom left first, what are you to do after they leave, i mean the reception is for them and when they leave i would think it would be over. I think it is the same as a birthday party would you stick around after the birthday boy/girl left i would think it would be over

By all means, stay! In my rural southern area, it is rather common for the B&G to leave first. One wedding I shot last summer, they cut the cake, ate a quick bite, and left before their guests had finished their meal. (This was a young couple in a hurry to start the honeymoon) You will have guests who stay as long as you do, and you will have guests who leave earlier. I don't think there is a "supposed" way to do things of this nature, so leave whenever you're ready. Best wishes!

Stay as long as you like but understand that the majority of guests won't leave until you do even if that is late into the night, so technically you will be the first to leave anyway. Why don't you just plan you wedding to go late anyway. Enjoy yourself!

Stay as long as you would like. At most of my weddings the bride and groom leave last.

I think tradition is going away. It needs to. Not everyone is the same. Do what you want to do. We were the last ones to leave our reception.
