I will be happy to enlighten you about this. First, It was the creation people that let the ape story out. Darwin never suggested that man evolved from apes.
The way I see it, that would be an insult to the apes.
The ape story was big headlines congered up by big city newspaper smartasses who were trying to bring the whole stupid truth in front of the world.
What an embarrassment. The teacher was defended against the crime of teaching evolution by famous lawyer Clarence Darrow, the teacher, Scopes had to pay a fine. $1.00. Darwin, who the creationist have never read, was a devout christian.
He said a single species had evolved into two, one man and one ape. That makes a lot of sense. Biologically, we
still have what is left of a tail, does that make us apes? The webs between our fingers? Did we live in the sea? The 99% dna we share with apes points to something. Can you guess what it might be? From what I have heard, the apes have it all over man...If asked, I'm going to say I came from apes, any day.
There are some excellent answers here, some funny, some truly brilliant. Those I salute. As they say in the jungle, a banana born every minute.....gotta go kiss my ape goodnight....

Because Jesus lived in a time where people didn't even know anything about science and rational thought. Disease as well as any other calamity was regarded as God being angry with you and was his revenge. Anyone that knew how to read and write was regarded as a genius.
Fast forward 2000 years and you can see we've come a long way since then. However, religion refuses to die because people would rather believe in fairy tales and a happy ending after life instead of scientific evidence.

Given that Jesus was one of many Jews trying to call the Jews to a more "righteous" faith as was normal when they were conquered, this is expected behavior.
The prblem with your question is the "If we are", as the facts are that we did share a common ansector with apes. This is proven fact. It is still possible to believe in what you want, but the facts are: we evolved.

First of all you have to decide whether or not to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, that there is a god and that the bible is the word of that god. If you don't believe that then you know that the bible is just a book made of legend, history and a lot of made up stuff. If you do then maybe you are asking the wrong question. Why don't you try to learn the truth about evolution and go from there.

God the Ultimate reality is One, and everything other than God comes from God and is related to Him. No true understanding of anything is possible unless the object in view is defined in relationship to the Divine. All things are centered on God.
"When thy Lord said unto the angels: lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire, And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate." (Qur'an. Ch 38- vrs 71&72)
"The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: 'Be' and he was." (Qur'an. Ch. 3 v.59)
"The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is the apostle of God, and His Word, which He projected unto Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him" (Qur'an. Ch. 4 v.170)
ooops, sorry, I forgot, you guys don't believe in Qor'an.
alright, here is my opinion, I think your questioned can't be asnwerred literally. Some concepts are biond our understanding! may be when God tells angels to bring sands from earth, there were some kind of specific DNA in it?!?!? Who knows, afterall almighty is the one who created numbers, math, science, chemistery. While believing in a life on planet as a single cell for the beginning, is more likely to be a masterpiece than creating a man as in holy books are told...
science and religion will only look beautiful when you blend them together...

Let's see here...
"If evolution is true then why is it contradicted in a book written in the bronze age by people who couldn't state the scientific method even if their life depended on it? Why did a man, no one can prove even actually lived, say something that can be interpreted as contradictory to evolution?"
Would you like to rephrase the question or are you okay with that logic?

Ok, so if I go along with the ape ancestor thing... It would be because Jesus is not referring to physical characteristics. He is talking about spiritual/emotional similarities

Where is your proof that Jesus even existed? And even if he did exist, where is your proof that he actually said that? I hope that the New Testament portion of the Bible isn't your only "proof", because that was supposed to have been written after Jesus' death.
