where is cheap hotels or motels in nyc must be clean

Hotel in west side manhattan of riverside near columbia probably the cheapest, $79
A hotel across Penn station is cheaper too, about $139.
Both don't have bathroom, shared. And the rooms are about 100 sq ft.

I am not sure that there is such a thing in NYC, but we like to use trip advisor - you can search hotels, and read reviews from others who have stayed at the hotels.

I usually book with roomsnet.com.for 2 main reasons
1.) they have 24/7 customer service.
2.) they have lots of unbiased reviews.

If you are willing to stay in a Hostel, they are cheaper.
google hostels. Also try priceline and click on where it says name your own price.
