I'm just curious as to what some of you might think this dream means.

Here is the dream. In your mind picture a color. (the color for me was normally blue) Then a black blob appears in the center (like dropping ink on paper). This black starts shooting out in all directions beginning to cover up all the blue. Right before the black had covered up all the blue I would wake up screaming. There was never any variation it was always the same dream.

I had this dream over and over again until I was approx. 10 or so and then it just stopped.

Any ideas as to the meaning?

Hi quadc,

I looked up the elements of your dream at the website Dream Moods, and here are what they mean:

First, the colors:

Blue

"Blue represents truth, wisdom, heaven, eternity, devotion, tranquility, loyalty and openness. The presence of this color in your dream, may symbolize your spiritual guide and your optimism of the future. You have clarity of mind.

Depending on the context of your dream, the color blue may also be a metaphor of "being blue" and feeling sad."

Black

"Black symbolizes the unknown, unconscious, danger, mystery, darkness, death, mourning, hate or malice.

If the feeling in the dream is one of joy, blackness could imply hidden spirituality and divine qualities."

Now for the blobs that were like ink on paper:

Ink

"To see ink in your dream, represents creativity and a new way of looking at things. If ink is spilled in your dream, then it symbolizes a blemish or minor problem."

Paper

"To see a blank white paper in your dream, signifies your desire to make a fresh start in your life. It may represent you desire to express yourself through writing or art. You need to work on being more communicative."

Recurring Dreams:

"Recurring dreams repeat themselves with little variation in story or theme. These dreams may be positive, but most often they are nightmarish in content. Dreams may recur because a conflict depicted in the dream remains unresolved or ignored. Once you have found a resolution to the problem, your recurring dreams will cease."

I'm not positive, but it sounds like first things were peaceful in your life, & then something mysterious or dangerous entered. Whatever it was tried very hard to get your attention as evidenced by the repetition of the message, & the screaming that followed. Did your life change for you in some way for the better, around age 10? Perhaps it was somebody who came in & out of your life before that? Maybe it was some sort of a problem or challenge that came up which you ultimately managed to resolve. Are there any other details of the dream that you can recall? If you reflect on what else was going on for you then, it could provide further clues to help you piece it all together.

i think that it means that something in your life is changing. The blue represents your average life, and I think that the black may be the change that will take over your life. Maybe the change is good, maybe the change is bad.
Another theory is that you may be a little stressed and could use some relaxation before bed (that means no bright colors, no exercise with the exception of light yoga, and no sugar before bed)

wow it reminds me of a dream i always had growing up. i think i know what it means especially if the feeling that comes with the initial color is pleasant and then when the dot appears a sense of dread and just yukkyness take over.
in my dream its little yellow things, floating in the air in a circular pattern, they are moving sort of like a carousel ,there is a mountain in the background and they circle towards it and eventually into it, i am just in the form of my minds eye (like no body just there) and i move to see where the little happy yellow cursor looking things are headed and see they enter the mountain, when i get to the mountain i realize they are flying into a big black ....thing, a feeling of dread comes at this point , something like coming across a terrible accident and i wake up.
i think my dream and yours are similar even though the form is alot different. they are basic color, positive feeling followed by a destruction of the color (black) and intense negative emotion.
i think it is the product of the realizations we have growing up that things aren't always as they seem to be, things can be frightening and dangerous, the understanding of death and negativity. basically it is a visualisation of our innocence being corrupted and slowly dissolving and a fear of what is beyond that (as in fears about growing up)

you had insecurities of being left alone.

the blue indicating that you were in a safe place feeling secure.

when the blue started turning black it meant that you were losing your sense of security.

could of been caused by being in a room away from your parents or a divorce or the recent lose of a loved one.

Spiritually, blue is the throat chakra-It represents communication. It would show that it's being blocked off. Do you have something to say but aren't?
Are you not getting your say in something?

Sadness attracts darkness. You need to forgive certain people in your life so your soul can be free to blossom and shine.
