I have had the surgery and yes I have bad gas pains at times. The pain goes down into my intestines too. They say the worse thing to eat after this surgery is lettuce. It does seem to effect me pretty badly at times. I have had some sharp pains where they did my surgery too and it seems a lot of pressure in that spot. I wondered at first if they had left something in me, but guess they didn't because I am still here.
I also have had troubles going. I get the runs at times and do not even know I am going to go. It just starts coming out and it is very upsetting. The doctor told me to take metamucil for this and it has helped me a lot. I take one pill a day.
I think the reason we have the pain there in that spot is because if we gas up some it puts pressure on the lesions where they clamped off the spot where they took out the gallbladder. They told me they used a medal clamp there. I went to the doctor and ask him about his since I have having pain there.
You never said how long it had been since you had this surgery but my pain has gotten better and I had mine done three years ago. I still have some trouble with certain foods though. I think I always will.

How long ago was your surgery? the gall bladder isn't a necessary organ that keeps us alive BUT after it is removed you can experience pain if you eat fat or greasy foods. If you just had surgery then when the surgery is preformed a lot of gas is put into your abdomen to make it easily accessible for the removal. This will go away over time and should be relatively short. Make sure you don't eat high fat content foods 4 hours before bed time. if the pain persist go back and see your doctor

I had mine august first.
Let me tell you.
Fries, chips anything that's heavy on the stomach will do that to you. I'm usually asleep, but it could be because I'm 16 and school is in session.
My scars sometimes hurt, but for me, the pain is in the left side, I suppose on the right side of my breast? It's really more or less of a sharp inhalation thing, but it lasts for a while too. I have to hold my chest area when it gets really bad. I don't have much balance either I find. Most people get dierheria (sp?) after gallstone surgery, but I haven't had that at all. Which is rather nice.
As for right side pain, I don't have anything seriously bothering me there. It's more or less on my upper back that I feel it around my shoulder blade. My mom says it still could be gas from the surgery because they blow your stomach up to see better. that can last up to four months I've heard. Hope it helps, feel free to get into contact with me. :)

OMG, yes and it lasted over 2 years---talk to your doc- you should be able to take GAS X and I use the walmart generic--also do not drink from a straw for awhile--it makes you swallow a lot more air than you need to drink......good luck-and sleep with at least two pillows, one under your stomach area so you are sort of "propped up" as if you were in a hospital bed.
Good luck to you........been there, unfortunately.

I had this type of surgery 2 times.
They blow you up with air so they can see what they are doing.
After wards they try to get it all out but they cannot get it all.
It is air under the skin that cannot get out it dissipates after a few days.
It is very uncomfortable, you poor thing.

Honey Doctor's won't tell you this. But you can still have light gall bladder attacks. The body has memory and remembers that organ being there. Sweetie you need to e-mail me privately...I could tell you some stories !!!

1 of my sis-in-laws had the surgery, and she does.
Severe, gas pains.
She says she has to break wind, when she has to break wind,
or else it causes her extreme pain.
