I have started exploring how I can add more fruit and vegetables to my diet and ran across pears, which I never paid much attention to before. There are green pears, red pears, and golden brown kinds too. Which taste the best, and do certain ones have more vitamins in them than others?

just wondering, thanks

The green pears taste kind of bland.

Golden brown pears taste deliciously sweet.
I would get those;I personally believe that they taste a lot better than the others!

Pears are my favorite fresh fruit. All of them are good. The most common ones you will see are the bartletts. They are tasty, but have a grainier texture than some. The bosc pears have a kind of tough brown skin, but are creamy and sweet beneath. My favorite is the red pear, but they must be hard to harvest, because they often have a lot of markings on them. Whatever you choose, you want them to get good and ripe before you eat them. Go get em!

I work as a grocery clerk and the green pears are indeed more nutritious and alone taste the best. They have somewhat of a "tart yet sweet" flavor to them, although the brown ones (typically Asian brown) are very good as well.

Many of the green ones in fact have names. Try these out: DanJou. Packham. Bartlett. Make sure they are ripe otherwise they won't taste the greatest. In order to identify that, gently squeeze the sides as if you were testing a peach. The softer it is, the more ripe it is.
