Just stop smoking today. That's the way my girlfriend did it. If you have a strong mind you can do it.

Talk to your doctor. Zantac is a medication that seems to work for a lot of people and is available by prescription. They like to combine that with a non-smoking course (mainly education) and one of the things they have you do is when you do smoke, put all your butts in a jar and add water. It's pretty disgusting. I haven't tried it, but it worked for my ex-husband.
I've been smoking since 15 too and I am 46 now and still going strong. It is the single worst thing we can do to ourselves.
You're on the right track by wanting to quit. That is 3/4 of the battle!
Oh - and don't stop working out. Working out will release the toxins that the cigarettes are putting in your body.
Take care and I wish you the BEST!

well idk about u but i wouldnt go to a doctor unless u rily no and like that doctor. cuz my doctor bugs be cuz hes always stating the obvious, like in ur case he`d say ``just stop smoking''. its like no **** sherlock, dont u think i tried that?!?!
anyways my dad is like the same way. try taking it a step at a time. cut back slowly so u dont notice the difference as much as if u cut back by alot. try doing things that take ur mind off of smoking. do something like a play a video game or something using ur hands so u cant smoking while the thing ur doing. doing little things like that can make a difference. i hope everything turns out. and remember doctors dont usally help unless ur lucky enough to have a good doctor. (which is rare)

you ask for something stronger than the patch, the gum, etc?? and you wont find it looking here.. but you WILL find it looking WITHIN.. your WILLPOWER is stronger than all those things OR any prescription drugs you may find. Another thing you might want to do is come to the hospital with my dad who was a smoker and now is in the fight of his life due to lung cancer that even if is removed has a 90% chance of returning. the tests, the biopsies, the surgery, the chemo, the sickness, losing the hair, the appetite, dwindling down to nothing, watching your life slip away and knowing you could have prevented it, leaving your loved ones and knowing that deep down THEY ALSO KNOW that perhaps you could have stayed... if only you had been strong enough to stop. is your addiction controlling you or will you control it? your life could depend on it. best of luck to you! :)
do you love your family? do you WANT to live?? it is proved tnat smoking causes cancer and it is also proven that if you get that diagnosis, it is a real possibility that you are going to die. nothing else you can do, not even stopping will stop that process. how bad do you wanna live, how bad do you wanna be around for your family? i think it is selfish to continue.. i think you can quit if you really want to... think of the consequences for you and those you will leave behind, those who want you around...
take it one day at a time... do things to keep yourself busy and TELL YOURSELF that YOU and YOUR FAMILY are worth your efforts to preserve life and the time you are given here on this Earth with your loved ones. Life is short enough, milk it for all its worth, while you can...
YOU CAN DO IT!!!! :)

you don't have to quit, all you have to do is get stronger and more healthier with smoking. your body will get used to smoking and adapt to the situation which means your body will automatically learn how to smoke and remain healthy at same time
so keep smoking but don't spend ALL your money on cigaretts at once spend regularly and don't damage your lung all at once smoke regularly like 1 or 2 a day so your lung canrest
your body takes at least 2 weeks to fully adapt

I don't understand how you can smoke so many cigarettes when you're in school all day? But I digress...
There is a new prescription out to help smokers quit...but of course, you have to see your doctor and like all medications, there are side effects.
I wish you all the best and am sorry you're having health problems, but am glad you're taking this seriously to quit now while you're young and don't do irreparable damage to your body.

Noone can give you the right answer, until you really are ready to quit. Your still in the admission state. Not in the " I HAVE TO DO IT FOR ME", state. Your still playing around with the idea, but still holding on to the addiction. Im not convinced you really want to quit this. When you really want to quit it, there will no questions for others of how to do it, you will just do it on your own terms and your own strategy.

well, you could put forth an effort to try "nicotine" again like a thousand commercials have posted up on TV and fortunately, they have proof that it works. Plus, it's a patch, not a pill. I guess pills are more effective, but you'd have to see a doctor. My parents are doctors and they say you need a prescription for PILLS.

my mom always told me about how she would suck on cinnamon sticks, but that doesn't really have anything to do with nicotine, and you can't smoke cinnamon. but i wish you the best of luck, i wish a lot of my friends would try the same thing. also try staying away from your friends when their smoking (if they smoke). and your not an idiot, you just made a bad choice.

I suggest you go to your doctor and get a prescription. There are several good ones you can try. Also, a support group can help. Your doctor might be able to refer you to one of those. Good luck! Your desire to quit is half the battle won. A lot of smokers wouldn't even consider quitting.
