One night when I was 12 years old I begged God to let me know if he was real. I don´t know what brought it on but I was serious. I was not raised in a church.
I forgot the night and God altogether and at 23 was reading books about eastern thought and practicing some astro travel stuff with a bunch of drugeing freaks like myself.
At 24 God pushed me in to a corner and said "I know you. I accept you as you are." (short version)
When God says helo, you don´t forget it.
I was changed instantly and forever.
Why? I don´t have a clue and I have no feelings of being better than anyone. I sometimes which I could show some physical proof of the existance of Him who I am known by.
But that is not how spiritual things work.
If you or anyone is serious about knowing God, talk directly to him. the door has been flung wide open by the loving sacrifice of Jesus.
And you, you know who you are, Don´t say you can´t talk to someone you know don´t exist. you show your hard headed ignorance when you do that.
I will say the same to you that is posed to believers in Christ all the time, you can´t prove a negative so, though I can´t prove that God exists, you can not say, with any inelectual weight, that God does not exist. Right?
Why are so many people vieminantly opposed to Jesus as opposed to Buddah or bla bla bla?
They´re not. They´re opposed to church goers who may not be as perfect as unbelievers would like them to be.
Please, Seek God not religeon.
He will be found by you if you really want and need him.
Jesus said, "I came for the sick:" He can´t help those who think they are well.
I´m always sick in one way or another, body, soul or spirit.
How bout you?
He can and will forgive anyone.
and while we´re on the subject of forgivness, forgive my miss-spelled words.
The spell check thingy isn´t working and I am the worst of spellers.

"Well, you are right, if God is all powerful, why can't he just make miracles right now?! Think about it, our God isn't like any other, who will just replace an old used up world with a new one. He does things unexplainable and unexpectedly, which are the deeds that he must do. He does the things that are not easy for us to understand. He watches over us as we struggle through life. He has a plan for each and everyone of us. This is what makes us unique. Only to let us live in this world once and letting us to fix our mistakes and be the best of what he would of wanted. So think about it, he could of destroyed all of his creation and have it replaced by a whole new creation, because of the first sins that Adam and Eve done. But he didn't. He loved us for who we are. In the end God will reveal the truth, but we never know when. This can still be explained in many different ways, but for me it is quite hard to explain. I hope this make sense to you. Take care."

The answer is in Hinduism.
God is a one being, yet we understand Him in three perfections: Absolute Reality, Pure Consciousness and Primal Soul. As Absolute Reality, Siva is unmanifest, unchanging and transcendent, the Self God, timeless, formless and spaceless. As Pure Consciousness, God is the manifest primal substance, pure love and light flowing through all form, existing everywhere in time and space as infinite intelligence and power.
God is all and in all, one without a second, the Supreme Being and only Absolute Reality. He is Pati, our Lord, immanent and transcendent. To create, preserve, destroy, conceal and reveal are His five powers.
The Vedas explain, "Self-resplendent, formless, unoriginated and pure, that all-pervading being is both within and without. He transcends even the transcendent, unmanifest, causal state of the universe."
Hinduism, the world’s oldest religion, has no beginning--it precedes recorded history. It has no human founder. It is a mystical religion, leading the devotee to personally experience the Truth within, finally reaching the pinnacle of consciousness where man and God are one.

20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
God has made the first move. We have to make the next one!

I love this question, Janet.
Jeremiah said it all (speaking for God through J's prophetic gifts):
Jeremiah 29:13:
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
This is possibly the most important scripture in the Bible.

He likes when you show your faith by going to him, asking him questions, and starting conversation.
Although, God has been know to go to those, that does the right thing at the right time using your heart. God's presences intervene to me once.

Both. If we are living the way we should, and are open to communication, He will let us know what He would have us do. But the first step is from us. We have to open the lines of communication.

There are none which seeketh after God. God already came to us in the form of Jesus Christ. It is He who searches us out, not vice versa. He uses the testimony of believers and His Word to draw you to Himself. It is up to you to respond to His calling. Once you have been born again then you go to Him in prayer.
