I personally don't believe in spirit possession.

Good post Hig. Most people do not understand the work of the Holy Spirit or its purpose. The Holy Spirit is the third person within the Godhead. The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins and draws us to Christ. We would never be naturally drawn to Christ. It is the prompting of the Holy Spirit that convicts us of our sins and also guides us into all truth. The Holy Spirit enpowers the believer to live a victorius life through Jesus Christ.

Your question should be "why do the religious SAY we must allow the Holy Spirit into us. Answer: it felt good to them, and they're trying to be nice.

The Holy Spirit does not force himself on you. When you are saved you can ask the Holy Spirit to come and abide with you and if you ask him with your whole heart then he will. When the Holy Spirit comes on you will will receive power to stand against the Devil. God bless

God made you for a purpose. God uses people to do His work and you can better fulfill God's purpose for your life if you yield yourself to the Holy Spirit. For example, people need to be loved and the best love people can get is the love that comes from God through us to them.
