The brig is the jail on shipboard. And no ship has been kept at sea for the duration of a 4 year enlistment. Once on land, an offender would be transferred to the stockade, and that's for misdemeanors, or holding during a court-martial for a felony offense. No misdemeanor would keep someone in the stockade for 4 years. A felony term, though, would be served in federal prison.

Weed in the blood would probably get NJP and a couple weeks in the stockade. If they didn't want to have him in the Corps anymore, then they'd just run him out on a Bad Conduct Discharge (and probably spend the month or so in the stockade waiting for it to be completed). A BCD would deny him all veterans' benefits and the military would be done with him.

A felony conviction, as a result of a court-martial, would result from something a LOT more serious, such as distribution.

Probably not. Unless he was convicted by a General Court Martial and sent off to the Joint Services Brig in Charleston, South Carolina. If that was the case he was a major dealer, not just some pot head.

if you pop on the drug test you go to the brig for so many weeks or mouths than you return to your until and begin your paper work on getting kick out of the Marine corp.

No, not at all. My soldier has told me several times when some of his men have failed drug tests. I know they receive discipline and he lectures the hell out of them, but never once has he said any one was sent any where to serve time. I would imagine if it was a continual problem they would lose rank, pay, and eventually be dishonorably discharged. Please keep in mind mine is in US Army.

Go Army...Hooah!

Possible, but not likely. The military will usually just release the person with any variety of discharges.
