Is the needle size the same, I mean? The IV needle for a surgery and a blood donation needle.

Donating blood hurts less

Donating blood is essentially the same thing as getting an IV, they work the same way only the blood is coming out the IV when donating. :) To me, who is afraid of needles, they both hurt equally. Good luck!

Nah, it's a piece of cake. You feel a little sting when the needle goes in, just as hyou do with an IV. With an IV the stuff goes in. With donating blood, the stuff goes out. No probs.

Depends really on who poke you. Someone experienced you may not feel more than a small sting. But, if there someone standing behind a person (Like a coach/teacher) well your guess ? I have been stuck by the inexperienced and they have to stick and miss and stick again. But, I understand their dilemma and my own, but, experience comes from practice and sometimes we the Guinea Pig! ;-)

I'll agree that it hurts less than an IV, at least to me.
