Seems it is caused by protein breakdown and not removing all the uric acid, lused to be called the rich mans disease. Also 76% of people who get it are insulin resistant. According to friends and medical books if a person drinks cherry juice it will help speed up gietting the u Acid out of the body and also help with the inflammation. Is is also suggested to cut down on high fat foods and eat fresh berries and fish. Take fish oil. Get the system a break if she's eating abunch of fried stuff or candy it may be hard but give it a break. Drink plenty of water will help with eating and detox better. Main causes:
Diet high in sat fats, refined carbs and alcohol
dehydration
obesity
kidney failure
surgery
joint injury
stress
her medicines she takes like aspirin, diureticcs and high dose niacin
lead toxicity
high blood pressure
acidic system

Four tests to help doc figure it out Urinary ph, blood pressure, detox profile-urine, vitamin and mineral analysis especialy for magnesium, folic acid, B6 and B12-blood test, allergy and blood-sugar test.

I know it's not fun because freind hates it, but if she can stand the sugar in the blue, straw, all berries and the cherries it should help her. Just tell her it wil only be for a little while and cut out the bad stuff with the fats. Hope she gets over it.

The treatment of Gout is standard and simple. I know because I'm also diabetic and I get gout if I don't take my medicine. First, to alleviate an acute attack get another doctor (the one your grandma currently has sounds like a jerk) to precribe Indocin or Indomethacin (generic). This will cure the current attack. Also another medicice called Colchicine can also be taken in conjunction wirh Indocin, but it's tough on the kidneys.

When the acute attack subsides a daily dose of Allopurinal will absolutely prevent future attacks. Get your grandma to another doctor immediately. Gout is the worst pain I've ever experienced and I've been both bayoneted and shot in combat. Believe me, the Gout is worse.

she is diabetic and taking cherry juice? I suspect that will make it worse. Her gout is likely even more tender due to diabetic neuropathy which will get worse because the cherry juice will drive her blood sugar up. Have you considered actually taking her to a doctor?

For gout eat less meat. For diabetes eat less sugar. Type it in your Yahoo search bar.
