I wish them luck, and hope they don't **** it up as bad as we have.

Marooned I know that you, of all people, are not one to underestimate the creative power of ignorance. It won't threaten anyones faith. It's more likely that religious zealots will make the case that it is a rebuilding of Eden meant as a reward for the sanctified after the tribulation.
*edit* Sorry, when I first answered the question I only looked at the avatar, and I mistook you for another user. I have corrected that error, but thankfully the comment still applies!

Religions were developed when Earth was believed to be the center of the Universe. They didn't know enough to be against the possibility of life elsewhere.

It doesn't really change how people perceive their faith. Some might say god is making a new planet for a new set of species. Some might say nature is taking its course and gravity is forming the planets out of dust and gasses without god's help. I personally choose the latter statement. Just saying "god is making it happen" doesn't explain anything, and it gets us no where. Its pretty cool though!

ACtually, we know from the following verses:
1:2 All praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds,
All the worlds, Rabb al-Aaalameen.
So we know, that God is the Sustainer and the Creator of Everything. So, if there is life on other planets, then I guess I wouldnt be surprised.

I've never seen scripture of any faith that says that we are the only planet with intelligent life.
It has no bearing on most world religions, but it is super cool!
Thanks for the link.

Well, it seems the local religions here are more "cosmic" than we might have guessed... ;-)
"The material mix in this belt is most reminiscent of the stuff found in lava flows on Earth," Lisse said. "I thought of Mauna Kea [in Hawaii] material when I first saw the dust composition in this system"
Poliahu and Pele be praised!

Well, when it forms, if there's water on there, then billions of years later, there's life forms it would show evolution. But i don't see how the primitive soup needed to spontaneously for life is going to exist

Life elsewhere has nothing to do with life and religion here.
