Yes..what do they contribute compared to the immigrants of years ago. This is a difficult question for most of you since many of you don't know what made this country great. You need some knowledge to answer this question. Who advanced the technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, etc? Most of you don't even know what Physics is. You probably think it is excersize as in PhysEd.Not all immigrants need to be so educated but on the average today's immigrants contribute very little if nothing to the advanced state of America. Yes..we may need grass cutters, corn pickers, etc. ( by the way..today's immigrant can't even cut grass straight). So what is it buddies that the latest immigrants can do to keep America on top besides talking bull, whining, etc?

No, it's not difficult to answer you, eliminate Politics from what's taking place now and you could see the same results as in years ago. There are others that have answered you that have very good points, listen. Mexico is the nearest country to us, but they are only a small per cent of the immigration problems we have.

There's a difference between illegal aliens and immigrants. Immigrants are usually here legally. Illegal aliens on the other hand, are just that...illegal. They come into this country and their hand opens the minute they hit the border. One thing that really hocks me off is that they come in, don't pay into the social security system, don't pay taxes, and still end up receiving benefits. There's something wrong with that picture. What gives them the right to come into this country and EXPECT things be given to them. These aren't things that are a given. They are a privilege and earned in many cases.

I'd like to answer two parts of your question. First of all, please do not underestimate the education of many of the people on here. There may be a few that spout off without knowing their facts, but there are many more who are very wise - on all aspects and positions of the immigration topics.

Secondly, take a look at what many legal immigrants have and are contributing. Have you been in a hospital or doctor's office lately? Many, many well educated physicians have immigrated here. In addition, there are math and science genius's, and computer guru's. You will find that there are legal immigrants contributing in everything from medicine to education to computer science to astro physics. There are some immigrants that contribute in the blue collar sector, some in the white collar sector. Legal immigrants are STILL helping to make this country great.

Illegal aliens, on the other hand, seem to cost the country more than they contribute.

America was and is built on immigration. It builds the population and Economy. But, there is a right way and wrong way to immigrate into a country and this not just America. Many World leading countries have the problem of illegal immigration. When (I not mention the the ones) immigrate into countries like Poland and Germany and not work but live on the hand outs of the people this is what is wrong! When a person hinders the Economy expecting the legal citizens to care and support them, this is wrong! No country in the world does not have immigrants or people that are there to "WORK" legally and thus support the economy of that country. I know a man that from Poland, lives in Canada and works in a country in Africa!!! But, he does this legally and was actually sent to that country by his company.

The difference Is that other Legal Immigrants wanted to be Americans, learned the language and contributed to the over all society...the new Illegal Aleins want to assimilate the rest of us, that were Born Here to to adapt to their culture and they send their Money Home to their nations of origin. You should see some of those seaside mansions the "poor" immigrant owns in their homes of origin. You cannot own property in their countries unless you are native to that country, while we sell safety, sovereignty, jobs, homes and education out!

Aside from the drug trade, gangs, Child and Human trafficking are making many rich people richer....Yes they are contributing to America becoming a Communist 3rd World Country......You can blame The filthy Rich Radicals from the Sierra Club.

first of all immigrants do the jobs you don't want to do which mean you have more money on your pocket. THEY HELP IN THE ECONOMY OF THIS COUNTRY WHCIH HELPS FUND ALL OF THE RESEARCH THE SCINTEIST DO. MONEY IS VERY IMPORTANT (money goes to schools to fund the teachings of CHEMISTRY BIOLOGY PHYSICS , pay teachers. so actually they help with the most important thin MONEY because they do the shitty work for half the price. which mean the prices of consumer products are less.
SO STOP QUESTIONING PEOPLE INTELLIGENCE AND IDON"T JUST LOOK AT ONE SIDE OF THE STORY.

Illegal immigrants contribute 7 billion dollars to our economy every year. That's a lot of money.

They also cost us about 17 billion dollars a year.

So, we lose 10 billion a year to illegal aliens.

Pretty good deal for us, eh?

The term "Immigrant" is a specific LEGAL term with a specific meaning which does NOT include illegals. You mention grass cutters, inept in their cutting. Those are typically illegals and their illegally born anchor babies. NOT immigrants.

Beyond that, I'm with you. Real immigrants (LEGAL) are typically of stupendous education and remarkable intelligence.

Illegals whiz on tires, make babies in record time, play 70-yr-old music (with new lyrics), etc.

That wouldn't have many jobs if we hadn't invented machines, and such, to do their jobs.

And I am sick of these people saying USA citizens are immigrants. EVERY COUNTRY WOULD BE CONSIDERED IMMIGRANTS. DO YOU REALLY THINK MEXICANS WERE THE FIRST IN THEIR COUNTRY EITHER, NO THEY WEREN'T KEEP GOING BACK AND BACK AND BACK AND GUESS WHAT THEY WERE NO PEOPLE. PEOPLE STARTED TO SPREAD TO CREAT TERRITORIES AND COUNTRIES TO MAKE THE WORLD WHAT IT IS TODAY. YOUR TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED 300 FRICKEN YEARS AGO. WE WERE SMART AND USED OUR BRAINS AND DID SOMETHING WITH THIS LAND AND DIDN'T ALLOW IT TO GO TO WASTE, IT IS CALLED INTELLIGENCE. THEY ARE INDIANS IN MEXICO TOO. EVERY COUNTRY HAS FOUGHT IN WAR INCLUDING MEXICO SO QUIT ACTING SO INNOCENT.
