Is the Bible true?

Many people think the bible is full of errors and mistakes. The bible is 100 percent accurate. The bible can prove itself to be true. The bible is an accurate book about history, science, future events foretold, and how we are to live. Lets examine some of the evidence there is for the bible being the inspired word of God.

The bible is the only book that has predicated the future 100 percent. Only God can do this. No man could even get close enough to compare to predicting the future like the bible can. The bible predicted the name, birthplace, triumphal entry, betrayal, suffering, death, and burial of Jesus. Jesus was foretold in the bible hundreds of years before Him came.

"The following probabilities are taken from Peter Stoner in Science Speaks (Moody Press, 1963) to show that coincidence is ruled out by the science of probability. Stoner says that by using the modern science of probability in reference to eight prophecies, ‘we find that the chance that any man might have lived down to the present time and fulfilled all eight prophecies is 1 in 10 to the 17th power." That would be 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. In order to help us comprehend this staggering probability, Stoner illustrates it by supposing that "we take 10to the 17th power silver dollars and lay them on the face of Texas. They will cover all of the state two feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would have had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man."
Stoner considers 48 prophecies and says, "we find the chance that any one man fulfilled all 48 prophecies to be 1 in 10 to the 157th power, or 1 in 10,00,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 000,000,000."

(This information was taken from the book Evidence that Demands a Verdict, by Josh McDowell.)

Just think this is only the percentage with a person being able to fill only 8 proficies. Jesus fulfilled over 300 proficies. This proves the accuracey of the bible trough proficey with out any doubt.

Here are some of the things scientific in the bible:

There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. (1 Corinthians 15:41) The bible is telling us all the stars are different and unique from one another.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: (Leviticus 17:11) We were told by the bible our life is in the blood.

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. (Isaiah 40:22) In the bible it states that the Earth is round not flat.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10) Here is an example of nuclear explosion.
Here are some of many of the evidences that the bible is accurate with science.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16) knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1 20-21) So the bible is the work of God. There we 40 authors of 66 books that were inspired by God to write the bible. These 66 books were written over a time span of about 1,500 years. All 66 books agree with each other. You can not get any 66 books over 1,500 years, that were from different countries to all agree with each other today. This proves the bible is really Gods word. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

The books of the NT were written within a single life time of the death of Christ.

The fall of Jerusalem was in 70 AD; if that happened before the NT texts were written, why was it not mentioned anywhere in the NT? Thus I conclude that the entire body of the NT was written before then. The eyewitnesses (many of them) who saw and heard Jesus were still alive by that time, but none of them wrote to refute the Gospels, or the Letters of the NT. The books were accepted widely and early by the church, while the people whe were there were still alive.

When the church came under persecution, and people were being executed, horribly so under Nero and the Emperors before Constantine, the church excommunicated those who denied Jesus and then tried to come back into the church, while the martyrs were honored and emulated.

Though there were various authors, and they wrote at different intervals, the doctrines are consistent. There are many multiplied thousands of parchments, papyrii, Uncials and miniscules that are available to verify what the earliest copies of the originals said. Though there are variations in spelling (an omicron sounds very much like an omega in the original Greek), or minor variations in word order (which is not very important in Greek), and there are duplications or omissions when the scribe's attention would wander; yet the text is undeniable.

But your faith should not be in the Bible, as though you were going to worship the Bible. Your faith should be in Jesus hrist:. John 20:30-31
30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;
31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
1 John 5:1-3
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Jesus Himself said
... , "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." Mark 1:15

The real proof is in your heart. If you seek solid proof, you're missing that which God rewards most – faith! Your hope should be in Jesus Christ. If He is not real to you, there is no hope after you die.

Look to Jesus for the faith you need, not here for the proof.

The proof comes after death. You can either believe He is real or you can believe He is not real here. Which ever faith you wish to take, it is just that, faith. Faith is not reality and will not be until it is exposed which will not happen in this life.

As I often say, I had rather have faith in God and He not be real than not have faith and He be real. I am happy living a life with faith in Him. I do not want to do all the things that defiles this body because there are a lot better ways to have more fun than living in sin.

There are other ancient texts from the time that Jesus walked the earth. Also, if the bible was made up recently, then why do they use it in things like ancient history to work out the locations of ancient cities if it was just a lie.

The NT quotes Jesus as saying "If any man will do his will, he will know of the doctrine - whether it is of God, or I speak of myself." (paraphrase). To me this means that the proof is in the DOING. If you think something is true, try it out. The 'fruits' (results, or consequences) will inform you, by the living of it. But that's a pretty tough road in reality. Most people benefit greatly by finding people to trust and following their advice.

God has given you His WORD as a guarantee. If that isnt enough for ya, then I dont know what to tell ya. The whole issue of being a believer is to take God at His Word. He says He doesnt LIE...He is the ONE person you CAN trust!

There is Historical Evidence that Jesus lived and died. There is physical evidence of a Master Plan and Creator for all that we see around us, and He has left us His Word that is His personal LOVE letter to mankind...He also died for your sins to demonstrate His personal love for you...to insure that you would be with Him forever, and that you could enjoy fellowship with Him NOW!

We KNOW because God says so! He is faithful, even if WE are not.

Short answer - NO ONE DOES! Long answer is the evidence of history against it! Academia states that in the absence of any sort of evidence of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable evidence is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence. The bible is what is called "Faction" A fictional story set in a factual time and place. Thus the time, place and real historical characters are all correct but the fictional characters and stories are not! There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded! There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death! He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record? Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death! Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter! At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed! Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead? The first person to provide a shred of verifiable evidence for God or Jesus will become world famous and mega rich! Ain't happened yet and it never will! Please realize that those claims for the Old historians are worthless since they were not even born until long after everyone in the stories would have been so long dead! Josephus AD 37 – AD 100 Tacitus AD 56 – AD 120 Suetonius - 69 – 130 AD Pliny the Younger, 61 AD – 112 AD Justin Martyr (Saint Justin) AD103–165 AD Lucian - AD 120 -180 AD but he was hostile to Christianity and openly mocked it. Pamphilius AD 240-309 AD Eusebius AD 263 – 339 AD Photius AD 877 – 886 AD Thallus - But there are no actual record of him except a fragment of writing which mentions the sack of Troy [109 BC] Showing that he was clearly not alive in biblical times. Some even try to use Seneca. 4 BCE – 65 CE but as a Stoic Philosopher he opposed religion yet made not a single mention of a Jesus or Christianity! Even funnier is trying to claim Celsus AD ? – 177 AD Who said that Jesus was a Jew who’se mother was a poor Jewish girl whose husband, who was a carpenter, drove her away because of her adultery with a Roman soldier named Panthera. She gave birth to an illegitimate child named Jesus. In Egypt, Jesus became learned in sorcery and upon his return presented himself as a god.

By Faith
we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible Hew 11:3
But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

my faith tells me it's all real.

“Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:6).
“I love those who love Me, And those who seek Me diligently WILL find Me” (Proverbs 8:17).

It’s His promise that you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart. That means sincerity, not games. Nobody likes to play games in a relationship. At any rate, God knows where your heart is. Just ask Him to help you, and He will. I can guarantee you that.

Blessings.

If you doubt you are not a true believer. FAITH in the word of GOD and belief in JESUS is the only proof that is needed, if you call yourself a believer and then doubt you are worse than a non-believer because you knew the truth.
