I'm sure a blood test could find nicoteine in your blood. A non-smoker could probably smell smoke on your breath and clothing.

Tobacco? You can measure the carboxyhemoglobin in the blood--this is an indirect measure, it is elevated in tobacco smokers in increments (no direct screening blood or urine test for tobacco); nicotine, tar etc will show up on gas or high pressure liquid chromatograph testing but that is not routine or cheap; a drug test will show marijuana.

Usually you can smell their breath, look for yellow stains on their teeth, hear that lingering cough, or catch a whiff of cig-stink on their clothing.
I don't think you need much of a medical test for that. Even sitting in their car for a minute will answer that question.

yes. I recently applied for life insurance and the man had a special swab like stick that goes in your mouth so that your saliva can be tested, if the swab turns a certain color then tobacco is present.

yes but if you cant smell it on them than you cant smell .....to a non smoker you smell very bad for hours after you smoke .
