nope. you must be a Legal permanent resident with the Green card first, then you can enlist. No way around it.

You can join the US Army from Britain - you'll probably need a Green Card first.

The British have been joining the Amerian Army since right back at the start - the Continental Army. More recently thousands joined the Union Army to put an end to slavery etc.

Yeah, why not? Join up and fight for Freedom, Liberty and Democracy.

Go to it young man.

whats wrong with joining the British Army? For a start, it is far more proffesional AND you live here, maybe you ought to be giving something back to your own country. Im quite confused about why you would want to join the army of another country really. I would have thought you would need to be an American citizen anyway.

there is no way round all the so called red tape you have to do it by the book .
as for the army yes you can join any of the u.s. armed forces but i am pretty sure as a mate of mine years ago did i dont think you get frontline duty , but you can still be deployed to a war zone , hope this helps but as you dont say how old you are think about it and maybe consider our armed forces aswell they do a great job but good luck with whatever you choose

no longer in the U. S. military, you like everlasting place of living, citizenship or a eco-friendly Card. As for the British military, you may desire to be a citizen of england, eire or any Commonwealth u . s . no longer less than. case in point, Australians, New Zealanders, Zimbabweans, Fijians and Canadians can enlist in the British military, between many different nationalities - although, you ought to holiday to and from the united kingdom at your individual price for the utility technique.

Go the U.S. Army Website and contact the Army Recruiters through that.

Yes you can join the U.S. Army...many Brits have and do. In fact the U.S. Army has Soldiers who either are still, or began as citizens of over 100 countries.

Interesting question, how would the government treat you for wanting to join the U.S. military which is essentially a foreign army, if you wanted to join the Iranian army they would probably throw you in jail as a traitorous dog - no offence intended, but would it be OK to join the imperialist warmongering U.S. military, probably! Given the way the war is going and with recruitment problems in the U.S. they might even give you a green card for dying for them but probably not.

My advice is that even if it is possible please give it a lot of thought because they really are not like what you see on T.V.

You can't join unless you are a US citizen or a US permanent resident (green card holder). The three posters above me are totally wrong. There's no way around it.

Why not stay in Britain and join the Real Army, perhaps give the country something back.
